Chiropractic has worked for me. I do not see a NUCCA chiropractor, I honestly don't know what method he uses. My chiropractor has been performing acupuncture treatments on me from day one and I have been going to him for almost 2 and a half years. A few months ago he sent me to a neuromuscular dentist and I am being treated for TMJ disorder along with my chiropractic/acupuncture treatments. Last week he told me that my atlas was finally sitting EXACTLY where it is suppose to be. It appears that the combined treatments are working. I have not had vertigo in 9 months now. I still have tinnitus and sometimes fullness but those are things I can live with. My chiropractor told me that my neck was the worst he'd seen in 37 years of practice!
I have also been on the JOH regimen for a little over a year now, I don't know if it helps any of this but I feel it can't hurt.

Always keep in mind that EVERY BODY is different so what works for one may not work for another one but I just wanted to put my experience here that it might give someone else hope that you can get well. If one treatment doesn't work just go on to the the next and someday you will find something that will help you. NEVER GIVE UP!

Also I am a Christian and I do believe in God and His power to heal and I know he led me in the path of healing that I am on. I do not believe that finding this website and reading Henry and John's experiences were an accident. I know some do not believe as I do and that is fine but I feel that my faith in a Divine Healer has made a huge difference in my situation.
My prayer is that everyone with these awful symptoms will find relief. I would not wish this illness on any living thing.

    Elaine:

What a great post. You're so right. We must never give up (although at times it sure can be trying!!!).

Since I've had MM for so many years, JOH said is regimen might not work for me . . . but I didn't find this site until recently.

Currently, I'm trying chiropractic and hoping it may be of assistance. Certainly the info that Hank and others have posted regarding the alignment of the neck is most interesting. I've printed it off and taking it to my chiropractor.

    Elaine,
I remember all that you went through early on. I remember that you had some early success. But something kept your improvement from gathering momentum. That something, as it turns out, was the TMJ. There are so many people here who suffer neck problems and TMJ and they have Meniere's symptoms. This is no accident or coincidence. I hope others will follow your example and find their way to wellness. And your spiritual remarks were on point as well. I am extremely gratified that you are doing so well.

Elaine, how often do you go for chiropractic adjustments? For acupuncture?

Elaine or Hank, how do you know if you have TMJ? I mentioned something to my dentist awhile back re one of your postings, Hank. The dentist asked if I had trouble with my jaw and when I said no, he didn't think he could be of assistance.

That said, yesterday when the MM was acting up, I attempted to eat a potato chip and felt a sudden jolt of dizziness, and again trying to eat a cracker. This was the first time I recall experiencing something like this.

TMJ is normally a looseness in the joint that might click or even snap when it goes back into place, sort of like the feel and sound of cracking your knuckles. I have a TMJ condition myself, on the Meniere's side of course. If I sleep on my left side, the TM Joint starts to click. It takes several attempts to get it to snap back into place. Others here have more prominant TMJ disorders. But those disorders affect the adjustment of the atlas. All of those bones in the skull are tied together by muscles and ligamints. When one moves, it places stress on the others.

Jacquie - In the beginning I was going for treatment 3 times a week, then I was able to go once a week, then every two weeks, then once a month and now we are going to try every two months. Remember, I have been at this for over 2 years, it took me a long time to get results so you have to be patient. Chiropractic is not an overnight or in many cases quick success, it is a process. I even had several setbacks, I would be going along pretty good and then things would get worse and I'd have to go more often for awhile but eventually things got more consistent and especially when my jaw started to get in it's proper place.
I liken it to weight loss - the problem didn't get there overnight and it isn't going away overnight. (a few people get almost instant results but that is not the norm).
My chiropractor administers acupuncture treatments everytime I go.

I had no idea I had TMJ because I had none of the clicking or jaw locking alot of people have but a few months ago I was telling my chiropractor about having some strange sensations in my face/jaw and I described them and he said he had a dentist he wanted me to see, this dentist is specially trained in the treatment of TMJ. So I went to him and he had me put my little fingers in my ears and open and close my mouth pretty wide and I could feel the clicking going on in my ear (yes, the one on the MM side). SO you may have the problem but not even know it. If you have tingling or numbness or strange sensations in your jaw or face or even headaches, deep ear itching - these are also symptoms of TMJ disorder. I have seen a reduction in all of these symptoms with treatment. I would not recommend a regular dentist for this - most of them won't know what they are dealing with, you really need to find a dentist trained in this treatment.
My dentist has treated many people with MM symptoms.

Where do you live? I could find out from my dentist if there are any specialists in your area if you are interested in getting checked.

Elaine, how did your dentist treat the tmj? From what I read, treating tmj can be problematic.

    Elaine,
Great to hear from you again, have missed seeing you on the site!
I too have been treated for tmj which I didn't know I had.My regular dentist sent me to a specialist because I told her about the mm and tinnitus.
I agree you need to see someone who specializes just in tmj.
I too agree about the jaw and atlas interacting somehow.
Anyone interested here is a thead I started on my tmj experience.

Well, I'm not sure if he would know of any outside the U.S., I will be seeing him in about 3 weeks and I will try to remember to ask.

Henry - he has me in an appliance that is correcting my bite, it is just a temporary one and he is thinking he may have to fit me with another one because my jaw isn't coming forward as much as it needs to be, when it finally gets where it needs to be then I will probably have to get a permanant appliance that I will wear for life to keep my bite where it needs to be, keeping the jaw in place.

Well, I visited the chiropractor today and he said my left Atlas bone is out of wack. Since it's probably been that way for many years, he's not sure if it will ever return to "normal".

I wonder how long it will stay in line? My next appointment is a week today.

He gave me an adjustment. I hadn't felt that good prior to going and continued to feel poorly for most of the day. In fact, I woke up about 6 a.m. this morning, feeling very "unwell" and did a lot of deep breathing.

Before Christmas my family doctor said he was going to arrange for an appointment for me to see a neurologist. I waited till this week to check. Apparently, the specialist said I should see another neurologist, a Dr. Robertson. Curiously, my ENT's name is Robertson. When I mentioned that to the nurse, he said that this Robertson was a neurologist . . . but I only see one in the phone book with that name and it's my ENT. ::) So, I'll wait till next week and see.

At approximately 4 pm I had to have a BM and then began to feel "unwell". There was not an actual dizzy spell, but i had to lay down for a couple of hours. This reallllly ticks me off!!! I was to attend a meeting this evening, but cancelled. It is extremely difficult to make plans because you never know how you're going to be feeling.

My neck & shoulders tightened up, although they (and my head) are feeling improved right now, but not quite back to normal (whatever that is - ::) ). I'm assuming the tightening happened because of the 'spell' . . . so probably the MM's causes the tighteness. Then, did this 'spell' throw my left Atlas bone out? I was just at the chiropractor's yesterday and don't go again till next Wednesday.

Very interesting. I hade surgery to remove the discs between c4 and c5 and c6 and c5, due to herniation. The nerves wer so pinched I had lost the use of my arms and had horrible headaches. The suregry fixed the problems and I have felt great, but now I wonder. It was about a year after my surgery that the MM syptoms began.

A gal on Face Book told me this:
"I didn't know that about remission. The doctor I see is actually a chiropractor and and a Naturalpath. But The medicine he gave me is a homeopathic remedy (petroleum 12x). It is little pellets, I take 5/day. I really believe this has helped ...me, I was having 1-3 dizzy spells every week last year. But everyone is different and needs to find what works for them. I have had menieres since high school."

Today I purchased some petroleum homeopathic pellets. I'd mentioned to her that possibly she's just in remission . . . but wouldn't it be great if something like this could some of us. She continues to see her chiropractor, as will I.

I am one who believes that even remission has a cause. For me to believe otherwise is to grant to illness a mind and a prerogative of its own. So when it grants a reprieve of remission, that then forces gratitude that we should rightly give to the disease. If disease does have a mind or a spirit, it would very most likely never grant a reprieve of remission. To do that would be out of character for such a spirit.
