A few days ago I was on the bus and found a 3 page article titled,"Christmas in your Heart"from [email protected] first paragraph says,"Christmas is a special time around the world.Young and old alike eagerly anticipate exchanging gifts and spending time with family. The gifts exchanged at Christmas serve as a reminder of the greatest gift ever given. That gift is Jesus Christ,God's Son,who was born to bring salvation to all who will receive Him".
Since I have lot's of time on my hands and I like to toy around on my computer, someplace else I found this website which has caused a belief issue.
    www.nazarite.net/evil-holidays.html
If what this website says is true that Christian holidays were at onetime originally pagan holidays,my beliefs are now in jeopardy. Please help.

I hope I'm laughing with you and not at you!

I kinda like the idea of celebrating Pagan Holidays.

It's time for you to pick up a history book or an art history book, daBronx.

Not sure why or how this would jeopardize your beliefs. Are Easter eggs that important to you? ;D

    Question

Do the Native American Indians celebrate Christmas?

No,not Easter eggs but the birth of the Messiah does.According to that website, and I have heard of this before,Jesus was born in September or October, not in or on December 25th as I've been told or maybe deceived as I have been led to believe.

    I apologize.

Can't help you with your pagam/religion conundrum. My answer is not what you're looking for.

I'm sure a religous expert will be along soon.

As an atheist I can't help you with Biblical accuracy (or lack thereof) but I can't see how the actual date matters. Religous folk are marking an occasion, the date itself is insignificant. It's the same for the Queen's birthday - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen's_Official_Birthday

Is participating in Pagan Rituals, ....to you.....jeopardizing your chance of getting into heaven?

I'm Catholic, I pray everyday. I go to church when I need to or want to.
I Believe in God and Jesus,Heaven and Earth, and I think I like the "idea" of Pagan Rituals.

Witchcraft, Voodoo, Casting Spells, different things IMO

I also believe in the power of The Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air.

That doesn't make sense. If the Queen was born on April 21st,why not celebrate the Queen's birthdate on the day she was born and not some other day. It's like, well how would you feel if you were born on such and such day but your birthday was celebrated on some other day?On the Queen's birth certificate what date does it say she was born?

Do you think getting upset about will get you the answer you seek.

What if what you're questioning is in fact true.

Right, that's my point. It doesn't make 'sense' but so what? For example, if my birthday falls on a Thursday next year I might prefer to celebrate it on a Saturday.

The Queen's birthday is celebrated on different dates to suit the climate or other considerations of the various Commonwealth countries. If you read the Wikipedia link it gives you both the actual date and the reasons why it's celebrated on different days around the world.

Christ's birth and death days are celebrated at a time when pagan holidays were already established. People were already of a mood to celebrate.

If you believe in God and Jesus does it *really* matter on what day you have your Christmas ham and Easter eggs? I don't think God minds.

Both my parents were Catholics as well. They were both Italian and rarely went to church.I have tried to live a good Christian life and I'm certain I'll go to Heaven.I believe my parents are in Heaven too and some day I'll see them,God willing.I've always thought that Jesus was special and December 25th was His birthdate, and although I've heard of other Sun gods,I'm sure they never existed.I don't believe in the things that you believe in like Voodoo,Witchcraft, etc.

I didn't say that I believe in witchcraft or Voodoo, etc

I said they were different from what I was talking about.

Well, now that you put it that way maybe it shouldn't matter,as long as I know and in my heart believes that His real birth date is Dec.25th.
