Dr. Sanjay Prasad... Metro Ear Group, Bethesda, MD. (and some other offices). The lady who told me about him actually had Bell's Palsy, but knew he was a neurotologist. She said he does surgeries at Johns Hopkins, too, but I'm not sure, as he never mentioned it. Then again, I didn't ask lol.

Granted, I've only had one visit and haven't had my Endolymph surgery done yet (which he will do), so take my word here with a grain of salt. But, he listened to everything I said, looked over all of my reports, we (DH and I) didn't feel rushed in the least and he sees Meniere's patients far more often than my ENT. The Bethesda office was about a 3 hour drive (DC traffic makes it so!), but I'll just say I'm more than willing to make the trip to see him again!

*EDIT* I live near Lancaster, PA., btw. There are no neurotologists in our immediate area that I'm aware of. So, it was basically start looking for a neuro in NYC, Philly or DC...

Thanks DreamChaser. I'm scheduled for surgery in July and needed to get a second opinion. I will give a call. I'm currently seeing Dr. Choe on the upper east side. He works out of the ENT hospital. I really trust him, but I won't have the surgery without a second opinion. What type of doctor is Dr. Smouha? Buffy don't stop looking for the right doctor. Good luck it sounds like you have some good leads.

In Los Angeles - Dr Jennifer Derebery at the House Ear Clinic - she is one of the top 4 or 5 MM docs in the country based on active research and reputation. I saw her and she lived up to my expectations!

Dr Timothy Hain in Chicago is another - but I have not seen him.

Portland, OR - Dr David Wilson, neurotologist, at the Portland Ear Testing Center.

Also in Portland- A doctor I don't recommend for ongoing treatment is Dr Mcmenome (spelling?) at OHSU - he has a terrible bedside manner. My understanding though is that he is a very good surgeon.

Also in PDX - Dr Owen Black - I have not seen him, but my understanding is Dr Black is a very controversial figure in inner ear treatment and should be seen with all the information in hand first. I have had several other Doctors in the field tell me that they do not recommend him. I think others on here have first hand experience with him, so I defer to them.

    Thanks

I live in AZ but go to Dr. Brackmann at House Ear Clinic in LA - it's worth the 500 mile trip.

Dr. Robert Cravens in Tucson is also good. He's not so much of a MM specialist, but his bedside manner is excellent and he's very thorough and thoughtful.

I see Dr. Minor at Johns Hopkins. I think they are very good. If you do a google search you will find info and studies he has participated in.

I'd recommend Dr. Susan Sordoni of the NeuroSensory Center of Eastern Pennsylvania. She's very caring and a great listener and her facility offers diagnosis and treatment for all sorts of neurosensory disorders like MM. She has patients coming from as far away as South Carolina!

I have also seen Dr. Gold in Charlotte, NC. He is good. I currently see Dr. John May at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend him to anyone. I've been seeing him for 7 years.
