This thread is informative and simply explained, I need to copy some of it for my personal records, and will read it at Sunday dinner to the Family, Thanx

    Great information for newbies.

So Cal. I am considering having my left superior canal plugged - as is my right one. I already have a damaged balance system due to MM and vertigo. I am curious as to how this next surgery of plugging my canal will affect my balance. (superior canal control most of your balance). However, having to live with vertigo and other SCDS symptoms is most distracting. Any thoughts?

Aladdin, I don't have SCDS nor have I had any plugging procedures (unless you count the hearing aids I wear) so I wouldn't even begin to know what kind of advice to give you. What I would suggest is contacting different professionals who specialise in this procedure and ask them if you can speak to any of their patients who have had both ears done. Getting a second and third opinion would also be a good idea. Best wishes to you.

    I'm trying something new.

I'm stretching and paying close attention to my body movement. I am standing on tip-toes, and slowly coming down, sometimes I have to hold onto something, sometimes I don't. If I move slowly, concentrating on the muscles I feel working I am working them more and re-learning how important balance issues are for even the simplest of tasks, like cleaning the shower tiles. That kind of scrubbing from top to bottom can make a gaL get dizzy, not to mention the fumes! :)

I'll even hold onto a chair or counter and slowly try to touch my toes, and roll myself up a vertebrae at a time.

Good stuff, who needs to pay for a gym, life offers opportunities for exercising your balance and body,
anytime, anywhere, anyhow you choose to. Just pace yourself. :)
