    Buffee and Holly,

I can only say that the authority on whether Buffee can be adjusted would be the NUCCA professional. Buffee, I would go and ask for a consult. Really. There is nothing to lose on that. Go and see.

Just a note for those who think they have cervical vertigo! My cousin is a radioligist and I asked him is there are tests to detect cervical vertigo and he said a MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiogram ). And of course xray of the neck area, bone structure.

I see references to JOH? Can someone point me in the right direction on the definition? I am new to this forum but have had Menieres for almost 3 years. I recently have had a significant rise in vertigo attacks and almost constant light headedness. I am looking for alternative treatments beyond what ENT and Neurologist have proposed. I am also intested in Vitamin C/D regimen discussion.

Willie, let me suggest you start at Taximom's thread here in the database, "Helpful hints for Newbies." You will find all about the various alternatives that have worked for various folks.

    Hi all,
Checking in with an update--I think it's been almost a year since I was on the board. All is well--expecting my second child and feeling great except for the typical early-pregnancy symptoms. I haven't had vertigo since August 2010, and have been able to keep it that way with chiropractic maintenance appointments about every 6 weeks. I'm really starting to feel confident that vertigo may be behind me for good, because I've learned so well what I need to do to keep my neck/back in good shape and have gotten very sensitive to the early cues which tell me something is off. Symptoms are limited to mild tinnitus--which may increase a bit with stress/fatigue but never gets too bad. The hearing in the affected ear has never seemed to improve, but at least it doesn't seem to get worse, either. I've learned over time that the problems with my cervical spine aren't isolated but are part of a larger set of musculoskeletal issues which probably originate from my 2001 cycling accident but I guess I'll never know for sure...

I've had lasting success with a holistic approach--chiropractic treatments when combined with massage, exercise, stretching, yoga, and use of a pillow which gives me proper neck support (I take that thing everywhere--try never to sleep on anything else) and of course trying as best I can to get adequate rest and good nutrition.

Just for reference for any newbies or curious folks reading this thread, there are no chiros who practice NUCCA in my area but the one I see uses atlas orthogonality which works just fine for me.

Wishing everyone well. I remain forever grateful for having stumbled upon this thread back in 2008 when I was in desparation that my Meniere's symptoms would never get anything but worse.

    Katie

Hi all , just thought ide pop back on as ive not posted for over a year. feel a bit guilty as it was this Forum and Henry Sullivan in particular who pointed me in the direction of NUCCA after 10 years of misery with so called "Menieres" symptoms. I am now completely free of any symptoms thanks to NUCCA. I wasted 10 years going to GP,s and so called "Specialists" to try and get to the bottom of what was wrong with me. Symptoms were white noise, extremely blurred and shuddering vision etc. Symptoms im sure most on here are familiar with. These symptoms started off as 10 second bursts every few minutes, to eventually 24/7, prior to my first NUCCA treatment.
One visit to NUCCA practitioner Heidi Grant in London and it was like a Lottery win, my symptoms were gone. They came back within a week, but it took many visits to keep the adjustments in place as my body shape changed to match the adjustments.
She also diagnosed that my Atlas had been fractured many years ago and this had been missed in X Rays etc arranged by my local GP and Hospitals.
I have now had almost no symptoms for last two years and I never even dreamed that would be possible 3 or 4 years ago.
I will be going for adjustments every 3 or 4 months as long as i am able
Ive got my life back thanks to Henry Sullivan, this Forum, Heidi Grant and NUCCA, better than winning the Lottery

Thanks for the note, RSC. I will always remember your case. It was truly extraordinary. I hope that someone reads your post and is helped by it.

And yes, there is no value one can attach to getting one's life back. When one has health, one truly has everything one needs. With health, one's avenues are all open and the sky is one's only limit.

I think this is very interesting:
    http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2012-01-31/sidney-crosby-neck-sidney-crosby-concussion-sidney-crosby-vertebra

"Sidney Crosby is suffering from a soft-tissue neck injury that could be causing neurological problems that have kept him out of the lineup since Dec. 5, according to an independent specialist contacted by the Pittsburgh Penguins...

In recent weeks, after continued issues with his balance, Crosby had visited specialists, including Bray and chiropractic neurologist Dr. Ted Carrick in Atlanta."

The Penguins announced on January 7, 2011, that Crosby suffered a concussion. Here is the timeline: http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/7459581/sidney-crosby-concussion?eleven=twelve

Thanks for that, TM. I could not help but think of our good friend, Nass, who also was a hockey player, and who had any number of head and neck injuries prior to the onset of his symptoms.

    Thanks again!

Yeah, it's funny--all those links have pictures of Sidney Crosby, holding his head at a funny angle. I'm starting to notice things like that now!

I didn't know that there was such a thing as a chiropractic neurologist. WOW.

And to read over and over again, in many different news sources, "a soft-tissue neck injury that could be causing neurological problems," and then a mention of "continued issues with balance," well--!!!

Me either, until a couple of months ago when I read about them on the science based medicine blog.

I think the author is wrong to suggest that chronic vertigo is best treated by VRT - depends on what is causing the vertigo. If it's migraine VRT will probably make it worse. Anyway, interesting reading.

Henry, I was hoping to send a copy of yours and your wife's stories to a colleague of mine who has endured several weeks of vertigo, but now that you've edited your first post, I can't find it.

Can you start another thread with that story?

I think there may be a lot of people with similar symptoms who can identify.

    Thanks!

    Hello all, songbird here....
I have been away from this board for a long time due to continued good health thanks to Henry's advice to see a nucca chiropractor. I was vertigo free from 2007 onwards. I had supplemented the treatments with an osteopath and seen gradual improvement in he fullness and tinnitus. However the last few months have been...challenging.

I flew back west to see my parents in Feb and went with very little tinnitus and fullness. But, I got a bad cold while there. In the descent back home, my ears felt like they were in a vice, the pressure in my tubes was crushing...my left ear was completely blocked ad my hearing diminished considerably. I spent a day at home recovering ad was back at work. I then entered into a period of considerable stress...the sudden death of a fellow church musician, preparing for his funeral and singing away my grief, a sick daughter with gallstones, getting ready for a Mexican vacation, passport issues, a broken tooth.....ugh. Two days before our Mexican trip, I collapsed at work suddenly...as if a rug ad been pulled out from beneath me. The dizziness started after a few moments...enough time to get me to the first aid room. I threw up for so long, in spite of gravol. I was taken out by ambulance, threw up the whole way to hospital, and in the waiting room until the intravenous gravol kicked in....all the time thinking, this isn't vertigo....I feel like I have stomach flu, a viral infection!!!!?? Causing dizziness like this?

I emailed my ENT who came back with the possible diagnosis of viral labyrinthitis. He told me rest, water and Gravol (for nausea ).

I was very tired all the time I was in mexico and had the same ear experience after the 5 hour flight back. Came back with extreme lethargy, stomach upset, diarrhea and headache..was dizzy on friday, mild throwing up, the gravol worked this time and I slept it off.

Today, a doctor checked my ears...no infection. I am slowly recovering from the fatigue and my stomach has finally settled down. I should mention that my sister had the same viral symptoms, minus the dizziness.

I did see my nucca doctor last Friday...he did a very light adjustment. I will see him again on Monday.

I am hopeful that the return of my dizziness is viral, not a return of my dormant Menieres vertigo. I see my ENT on Thursday, and am off work and resting as much As possible this week. I continue with my joh supplements as well. In see the osteopath next Tuesday. It should be interesting to get the perspective of my ENT, chiro, and osteopath all in a few days.

I am trying to stay positive... Any thoughts or advice would be welcome!!!
