"Sounds of Tinnitus" -to the tune of Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" Hello Tinnitus my old friend You’ve come to talk with me again Because a sound slowly increasing Left its seeds while I was sleeping. And the noise that was planted in my brain Still remains And invades the sound of silence. In my dreams I seek escape From the incessant noise you make The buzzing, chirping, ringing tones Sounding like a million telephones While my damaged ears bear witness to my fate I sit and vainly wait For the sound of silence. In place of silence I cannot hear Ten dozen sounds maybe more Drowning out people speaking Twisting words I am hearing Listening to songs that voices never share And no one dared Join my world without silence ”Fools” say I, “You do not know Tinnitus like a cancer grows.” Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you.” But my words like silent raindrops fell And could not be heard Through the sounds of Tinnitus As their ears began their ringing With the same tones that keep me from sleeping The people searched and tried All the remedies far and wide They screamed, “How can you live with all this constant noise?” ”Day and Night?” ”When it invades your sound of silence?"
Great one ! I tried to play the tune while reading, by the second line I couldn't hear, but the tune in my head was great!
You're welcome. Actually you pretty much match it rhythmically to the melody itself and I'm suspecting if I went and read the original lyrics I might find that you followed the same rhyming scheme.
