Stand Like A Rock

A personal observation. People either really love, or really disdain, folks who stand like a rock on principle.

 

Love this one, Henry. So true. It is always important to stand up for what you believe in. I tell my kids that all the time.

 

And its just as important to believe good stuff! With you as their mom, I know that is all taken care of.

OK, having just read Charisse's latest note to us, and subsequently PM'ed some thoughts and prayers to her this morning, I turned to Spence's book of sayings for this morning's contribution. But before I opened his book, I stopped for a moment and asked God to lead me to one that would particularly inspire Charisse. So I closed my eyes; I opened Spence's book, and with my left index finger touched a page. And here is the message for today, customized for Charisse, directly from Spence, with God's help:

When we have
nothing left but God
only then do we realize
that God is quite enough

Spence is a frame of reference for me. Spence keeps things real. In the end, as he wrote above, Spence had nothing left but God and all that God holds. All love comes from God. There is no love that does not come from God. Love, like life itself, is a gift from God. When we live, what we do with our lives becomes a statement we make using God's gift. When we love one another, that is God's love. We just use it. In the end, I can tell you that Spence was surrounded by God's love, bestowed to his friends, who loved him as God loves us.

 

Wow! Talk about wisdom.
