Just wondering if anyone has had a sort of unique dizziness experience from taking A/Vs. I noticed that the bottle cautions that the drug may cause dizziness. I've been back on Northstar brand of Val for about 2 weeks now (a couple of prior brands seemed to lack effectiveness). Anyway, ever since I have been back on it I am experiencing a once or twice daily dizzy period lasting 30-90 minutes. It's a bit different in that it comes on with a rush of blood to my head. It does cause the room to move in a vertical (vice horizontal) vertigo motion which is also different. It causes minor nausea but no where near the vomiting point. It happens normally 2 to 3 hours after I take a 1g dose but not always. I know the overall approach of using A/Vs comes with a two step forward one step back result in many cases. I just feel this is a bit different. My tinnitus and fullness have also been escalating - not really experiencing any lower volume days. Primarily just wondering if anyone else had this reaction.
A lot of folks have had things get worse for the first few weeks after starting AVs, but i can't speak to if this is identical to your case. It is believed that the worsening symptoms are the virus fighting back. Hopefully, things will settle down for you soon! Has anything else changed in your life? Stress? Foods?
Not that I can think of Scott. I'm getting ready to go on a one week cruise (for the first time in my life) planned several months ago when I was on a long stretch of feeling good. Anyway, that is probably prompting my question. If I am having some sort of reaction to the Northstar brand and it will take me a few more weeks to become accustomed to it, I'm wondering if maybe I should suspend use until I return from this cruise next week. Maybe take my chances on not getting hit with MM symptoms rather than accepting this reaction occurring daily while I'm on the cruise. Accepting the fact that these latest "unique" symptoms may not be from the drug at all. I know no one can answer that question but it is just going through my head. Just thinking through it now I will probably continue on the 3g per day until Friday and then when I depart on the ship Saturday I will drop to just 1g at bedtime for the 7 days of the cruise. Then resume the 3g per day following the cruise.
Mine is also staging up with increased tinnitus and pressure. However, I wonder if is stress induced worry about whether this condition will temper another vaca as it did a year ago.
Hi Teesdale I know this is an old post, but I’m wondering what was the outcome? Was your wierd vertigo temporary, or a side effect of the valtrex? Did you go on your cruise? Did you stop/switch av? Thanks for any update!
