Someone posed about Bruce Springsteen on here recently but it seems to be gone now, I'm listening to Born In The USA for the time in 25 years. What an album, I'd forgotten all about it. Takes me back to riding in the 73 VW bus again...

    Palm - Rock Island

New release from my favorite alt-art-weird-progish band out of Philly. Great stuff. If you are tired of you music collection and want something totally new tickling your synapses, give em a listen. They start a national tour today also.

  3. Yes, and then exploded and spawned such jewels as, “The Real World,” and “Teen Mom.”

Let’s have a moment of music for what was...

I might enjoy synthwave if my hyperacusis didn’t kick up every time I hear extra synthesizer
    :(

I Loved Agnus Dei, especially the 3:40 mark. Do you have anymore like that??? ::drooling::

  4. Oh dear. I’m afraid my dogs vetoed this, mbg. LOL Ever notice the stuff on NPR is either so far out there you’re like, “what the hell?!” Or you want to start dancing to it? Just me? I’m not saying this selection is like that, this is just a general observation.

Does no one remember good ole’ Bruce’s tribute to his wife?

    https://youtu.be/QvXpEb_YWzI

If that’s not a great song, I don’t know what is::cracking up::what woman wouldn’t feel appreciated after this tribute?!

Whenever I hear Video Killed the Radio Star, The Psychedelic Furs' Love My Way always comes to mind. Why? I haven't a clue. Thank goodness I like it, Love my Way, that is.

Mm, the classical music I enjoy is, predominantly, either considered requiescat or miserabilist, hence you may find the below either depressing or eerie.

They are however beautiful, & the songs & hymns, that I'm aware of, that are most similar to Agnus Dei.

~ Steve Baker & Carmen Daye - For Whom the Bell Tolls ~

    ~ Oxford Camerata - Kyrie eleison ~

~ John Murphy - The Surface Of The Sun ~

~ Yvonne Kenny - Sostenuto tranquillo ma cantabile (Górecki) ~

~ Max Richter - On The Nature Of Daylight ~

    ~ Elliot Goldenthal - Libera Me ~

  9. ~Rod Stewart, is that you?! I think he’s had some work done...

    NICE Lol
~I really liked this song. It’s got a gothic vibe about it, but it works. Gives the lyrics a more poignant meaning. Since I liked this one, I checked out some of the other songs from this album. I liked this, both sound and poetic lyrics:

Derek Trucks. One of the better guitarists out there but still under the radar.

  11. I gave it a whirl. The female vocalist has a voice not too dissimilar to Bonnie Raitt! The guitar was the ONLY redeeming part of this song. The organ...ugh!!! I have to be honest, the organ is just not my cup of tea. It may be spectacular for someone else. I think I would have liked it without the organ...

Yeah, the organ is OK but the real starts are up front and center. She does sound almost identical to Bonnie Raitt. I grew up listening to Luck Of The Draw with my mom, good stuff.

Both their self-titled album Portishead & their second, Dummy, for which 'Strangers' is found, are, in twain, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I’m more of a “Third” fan myself. Epically devastating.

Try as I may, I'm failing to appreciate Third in its totality, the way I do their first two albums. That said, I do love a handful of tracks, especially 'Machine Gun'.

If this forum/disease were a tv show its theme song might be Joe Walsh's "Life of Illusion". Many of the lines parallel our struggles to fix ourselves. The underlying theme being the smoke & mirror show the medical experts seem to be playing at times. The bemused-dejected vibe of the song is about right too.

Sometimes, I can't help but feeling that I'm
    Living a life of illusion
And oh, why can't we let it be
And see through the hole in this wall of confusion
I just can't help but feeling I'm living a life of illusion

    Pow, right between the eyes
Oh how nature loves her little surprises
Wow, it all seems so logical now
It's just one of her better disguises

And it comes with no warning, nature loves her little surprises
    Continual crisis
Hey, don't you know it's a waste of your day
    Caught up in endless "solutions"
    That have no meaning
Just another hunch, based upon jumping conclusions

Backed up against a wall of confusion
    Caught up in endless solutions
    Living a life of illusion
