    Hello Meniere's Cohorts,

Thank you for this active, informative, and supportive forum. I’m writing for your feedback as my doctor has recommended Endolympahtic Sac Decompression w/ Shunt surgery.

    Here’s my story:
    - I’m 67 years of age
    - Diagnosed with Meniere’s in my 30’s
    - Wasn’t bad until about 7 years ago when the spinning, vomiting and loss of hearing began
    - Diagnosed with Bi-Lateral Meniere’s
    - 2016 was so bad I couldn’t work
    - Meds included and still include daily:
    C-BETAHISTINE-XL 36 MG CASULE 3/day
    ACETAZOLAMIDE 125MG TABLETS 4/day
NAC / N-acetyl cysteine (The Hearing Loss Pill) 600mg 2/day
    B2/Riboflavin 400mg 1/day
    Magnesium Glycinate 400mg 1/day
    DIAMOX 10MG CAPSULES 1/day
    CoQ10 200mg 1/day

    - 2017 adopted the 1-2-3 diet from the book Heal Your Headache by David Buchholz and it changed my life!!! Didn’t have any problems for 3 years. If you are interested in this migraine diet, be sure to check out the Dizzy Cook for recipes (The Dizzy Cook | Migraine Diet Recipes & Natural Treatments)

    - 2020 Meniere’s returned with a vengeance. Had my first Drop Attack in January, got sick, and was very scared. Have had numerous vertigo spells this year, and last week had another Drop Attack, in which I broke my finger and badly bruised my back.

My doctor, Dr. Maw of Ear Associates in San Jose, CA, has recommended Endolympahtic Sac Decompression w/ Shunt surgery to relieve me from the reoccurring vertigo attacks and hopefully help with the Drop Attacks. I still have some hearing in my left ear which is where the surgery would be performed. My right ear (in which I also have Meniere’s) is at about 85% and has been stable for years. But as we know, nothing is predictable with Meniere’s.

I get the sense that the ESD surgery is not going to stop the Drop Attacks, but may help? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has had ESD surgery and what you found to be the pros and cons. Did ESD stop the ongoing vertigo spells? Also interested hearing from anyone who has had Drop Attacks and ESD surgery, and what impact the surgery had on your Drop Attacks.

Open to all input. Thank you for your time and wisdom. Much appreciated.

I am brand new to this site today and am wondering if you had your ESD surgery and how you are doing? I am 67 years old, have had Meniere's for 5 years now. (left ear) I have had injections of Dexamethasone once , each of the last 4 years in the Spring. only the first injection brought significant relief. the last 3 years, only minor relief. this last 6 months has been terrible. on the floor for up to 17 hours straight, vertigo, gyroscopic. this list goes on and on. I would like to have a conversation with you, if you have the time to share your experiences and thoughts?
