Hi, I'm new here but wanted to see how others felt about endolymphic shunt surgery. I've noticed post surgery much more tinnitus and I'm feeling frustrated and helpless. Also it feels full almost all the time. I had the surgery in November of last year. Did anyone else experience the same thing? I'm debating taking a second round of prednisone. Any thoughts, advice encouragement welcome.
Gurutogto, Welcome to the forum, great people here, I too had an Endolymphatic shunt surgery in June of 2018, this was after several rounds of steroid injections that provided no relief to my vertigo attacks. My tinnitus level was about the same after the surgery and my ear would crack and pop like it was going to open up and regain my hearing but it never did. A year later I had to have a labyrinthectomy because the vertigo never went a way. That surgery was in August of 2019 and now life is good again, just deaf in my left ear. Best of luck to you in finding a solution. Mustang1
Thanks Mustang 1, much appreciate the response. I'm still holding out hope getting on the Joh program might help.
I'm relatively new to this site also. Joined about 4 weeks ago. This is only my second post. I have been dealing with Meniere for about two years. ENT doctor put me on diuretic and low sodium. Only thing that it did was make my quality of life worse. He put me on prednisone (6,5,4,3,2,1) twice and that didn't help. I was having two/three episodes every week with some, what I considered nasty, where i would throw up. My wife and I started doing research to look for another ENT doctor and found this website. After I searched the database and found the "John of Ohio" plan. I decided to try the plan, starting out with the L-Lysine and vitamin C since i had to wait for the other vitamins that I ordered online. I have had Zero episodes. I'm waiting for another few weeks to see if it continues to help me. I'm hoping that it will.
Yup I'm starting John's program also with Lysine, vit C, Oregano oil, and lemon flavanoids. Tinnitus has started to come down. I'm going through major dietary changes so that might be causing it to go wonky. I'm switching to a low carb Mediterranean diet heavy on olive oil. I'm most concerned about my nut intake causing issues but I hope the lysine will help offset the nuts and legumes.
