    Hi Terratag!! :)

Yes of course! Supporting my country's victory- Portugal!!

Well, since my surgery (February) the truth is I've been a little dizzy many days due to the fact that when I turn my head to my left side the image drags. However, in mid-November I repeated the optokinetic physiotherapy and since then I have improved! The image still drags when I look to the left but less. Enough not to be uncomfortable and not feel dizzy. Let's wait another 1 month to see if it actually solved the problem for good. I confess that at this stage I expected to be 100% but I am not. But the truth is, I'm better. I don't regret the surgery and I would do it again and my life is better than before the surgery. It's still not the same as before Meniere came along, but it's better! :)

While you sound disappointed it also sounds positive overall.

I recently started having drop attacks which have left me bedridden and very worried. I am discussing VNS with my doctor but he wants to do a final barrage of tests first which is probably for the best. Did your doctor discuss VNS with you ?

A vestibular nerve section describes the process of cutting the vestibular part of the cochleovestibular cranial nerve. This is generally done in an attempt to eliminate recurrent attacks of vertigo.

so a Labrynthectomy means destroying the inner ear while VNS is cutting the nerve to the brain - I think VNS is more serious operation than the laby.

I think country, doctor you are seeing and your own symptoms play a big role in the treatment path they seem willing to follow.

Yes, I know what VNS is. It was never an option because here in Portugal it is not easy to find someone to perform this surgery. That's why I opted for a labyrinthectomy. I had already lost a lot of hearing in the operated ear, so I opted for a labyrinthectomy

So frustrating that while we all gather here and discuss our doctors don’t do the same :)

hope you have a wonderful Christmas and keep doing the vestibular exercises - I am sure they will help if you keep doing them :)

Terratag, When I asked my ENT about VNS surgery he said that he would never go that path as it’s a surgery on the brain.
However I know there are members here who underwent VNS.
    All the best to you

I am glad you have made another step towards recovering. Perhaps more physio is the answer to your problem. I keep my fingers crossed for you.

    Hi Terratag!
I am fine! I never had another crisis again. It's true that my balance isn't 100% and that sometimes I have days when I'm a little dizzy, but I'm very happy to have had the operation! My life is much better :) And is everything ok with you?

I suppose it’s the fear of the unknown at this point - the first 24-48 hours sounds awful …
