Anyone here have one of these for one sided near deafness from Meniere's?

It might since Cochlear implants help with total deafness I think. The non-surgical device uses the same bone conductive technology. My appointment is this coming Monday and I am cautiously optimistic. They offer the Adhear and BAHA devices so I am hopeful one of the two will be worth the big bucks they are probably going to cost.

Update on my Adhear appointment this morning. I cannot believe it but they just called and cancelled it because the only one who is trained with the Adhear and BAHA systems isn't coming in today because her car won't start. I started to snarkily ask if she hadn't ever heard of UBER or rideshare or even taxi's but decided not to tick them off before I even get seen. But who does that?

I am going to be charged a co-pay for seeing an ear specialist doctor so she must be truly a doctor? Don't most of them own more than one car? We own two and we are only middle-class SS retirees. I am SO disappointed. The next time I can get in is 09/27. They will call if they have an earlier cancellation. There is no other place in my city offering these two hearing solutions or I would have tried them after the first August cancellation.

Sorry for the big long gripe but I went from high to low in about 2 minutes.

 

Thanks for commiserating with me and my frustrations. I don't mind admitting in public that I am in rural outskirts of OKC, OK.

I contacted the Hough Inst. where I got all my testing done in 2016. They are the premiere Meniere's Disease experts around our area. They only do the surgically implanted Cochlear's but gave me the information of an office 10 minutes from them that might be helpful. I called and they do carry at least one of the bone conducting non-surgical aids and said if I have my doctor send a referral they can see me to evaluate me. They also told me to get what I want I need to be deaf or nearly deaf in the one ear. Well I am pretty sure I check that box so I called my doctor's office and asked for the 2nd referral, explaining the 2 cancelled appointments and wanting to deal with a more professional set up than the original one.

I hope they send the referral today as it will take 3 to 5 days for me to get in the system of the new place where they will then call me to set up an appointment.

 

I am a big chicken who doesn't like general anesthesia so I am hoping the non-surgical one will give me some relief but I would love to hear updates on your journey if you decide to get one if you don't mind.

If the non-surgical doesn't have almost a perfect hearing fix I won't shell out the $$'s for it and may consider 'manning up' <ha> to go under the knife. I am going to search FB groups and see if I can find one talking about them and their success with one. Thanks for posting about it.

 

Thank you for the good wishes and information about the Meniere's groups. I will check for a CI one for sure since mine is single sided.

I will keep an eye out for your updates and plan to post about my visit to check out the non-surgical options if I ever actually get to be seen. I have been rescheduled twice now.
