Is anyone on here using cross or bi cross hearing aids ? If so what brand and do you recommend them, Thanks
I have used them and still put them on occasionally when I wake up in the middle of the night. I currently have a cochlear implant paired with a hearing aid. They are better than nothing for sure, but you won’t be able to echo locate with them. I have used Oticon and Phonak brands and functionally there is no difference imho. I do like the Oticon app better, but that’s the only thing in comparison.
I have had the Phonak brand of bi-cross for a year now and I rarely bother to use them anymore as like Kevinb003 says they don't help with locating the direction the sound is coming from. I only have about 20% hearing in my left ear and I really can't 'see' much improvement while wearing them. I have a single aid for that ear that I got first back in 2017 and I sometimes haul it out and use it instead as while it doesn't amplify all sounds too well it does give me some relief by letting me hear a few things coming from my left. But some people do love them.
I bought some bi-cross Signia hearing aids - when using them, it does mean I can hear people and sounds on my bad ear side that I would likely miss without them. However, I never found them comfortable and didn't like the sound quality, even though I spent several thousand dollars on the darn things. Now my hearing in my good ear has improved enough that I don't need them. If I want some amplification (indoors only) I used Apple's AirPod Pro and they work well in restaurants etc.
