Hi, this is the first time I've read about this compound and I haven't found any relevant information about its use in Meniere's. If you decide to try it, please comment on your results. Thank you!
I don't know that anyone has tried it. When I searched PubMed, I found a study discussing adverse events/possible side effects after using it to treat river blindness (which is caused by a parasitic worm carried by black flies, ugh). 7.5% reported dizziness as a side effect, so that doesn't seem particularly promising. Serious Neurological Adverse Events after Ivermectin—Do They Occur beyond the Indication of Onchocerciasis?
@DaveB123 - Any updates? I was recently diagnosed with MD and my wife recalled Ivermectin having antiviral qualities. Thanks jw
Ivermectin is a drug to treat parasitic diseases. It is not known as an antiviral at this point and surely not FDA approved for such use. But if you find someone who will prescribe as an anti viral, I echo the statements above to keep us posted.
I started using Ivermectin in October 2025. It has antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It has helped tremendously. At my last hearing test I have 100% word recognition in both ears. That is up from 75%. No more fullness or pressure in my head and my hearing is at baseline. My affected ear is at 50% and the other is normal. I still have tinnitus in the affected ear but nothing that bothers me. Most of the time it is unnoticeable. I had a flare up in August of 2024. I tried everything and nothing was helping. I tried the JOH regimen. It helped some but not enough. I tried the Valacyclovir and it made me sick. So as a last ditch I tried the Ivermectin and it worked. My ENT stated he hasn't had any other pts try it so he asked me to stay on it for 6 months so that we can continue to evaluate. The only thing that causes me to struggle is the mid day fatigue. I don't struggle with it every day but when I do it's frustrating. I have plenty of energy in the morning. I sink after lunch then my energy returns in the evening. I would love to find something that helps this.
My ENT offered NO options outside of the apparently typical ‘no caffeine, no salt and take a water pill’ textbook response. I’m curious if my PCP would be willing to rx Ivermectin for this. I haven’t scheduled anything with him post-diagnosis. I’ve been on JOH Regimen for several weeks. I work from home at my computer IT job with a laptop screen and two larger screens. While off for two weeks during the holidays I didn’t log ANY episodes of dizziness. I had a couple times that I thought an episode was starting but they subsided. Within MINUTES of returning to work and sitting my desk and monitors, I had an episode. They have been frequent since. Twice today, alone. I intend to make an appointment with for an eye exam. I haven’t spent much time searching the forum for screen/optical induced episodes but I suspect this might be my trigger. A coworker informed me of blue filters but I haven’t looked into them yet. the Ivermectin seems like a good option to try too. It just might be a miracle drug.
Yeah my ENT didnt offer it to me. I sought it out on my own and only told him AFTER I completed my hearing test to confirm that it was working. I am the only pt he has ever heard of taking it. I would encourage anyone to just try it and see. It has been so helpful. It also sounds like you would benefit from blue blocking glasses or screen protectors.
I purchased it online from The Wellness Company here in the US. I take 18mg per day. Today was constant rain and decreasing temps in my area. Normally on days like these I would have increased pressure, tinnitus and fullness in my ears... Nothing... no symptoms. Im so relieved.
thanks for the reply so can i check it is this: Ivermectin Rated 5.0 out of 5 stars 4 Reviews $299.99 ($3.57/serving) Nobel Prize Winning Parasite Cleanse Medication ✔ Cleanse & Detox From Parasites ✔ Convenient 6-Month Supply ✔ FDA-Approved Medication ✔ Doctor-Prescribed and do you think i would be able to get it in the UK? thanks
Yes that is it. I have no idea if they will send to the UK. You could certainly try it. If they decline maybe they would know of a resource in your area.
hi - sorry - back to another question on this. It looks like you cycle the dose on this - but can i check - you said you took 18mg a day? can you tell me how long for? will you do just 6 months or longer? how are your Menieres symptoms now? thanks
After speaking to my PCP and showing him several printouts from this site, he decided to rx Acyclovir for 1 week to start to see how if I have any side effects. I hope to pick that up this week and start. He didn’t Balt at the mention of Ivermectin but opted for this anti-viral. Wish me luck!
As a heads up, it took two months for me on Valacyclovir to see improvements. In fact, those two months were miserable. I was having bad episodes every day to every other day for that two months. I constantly had cold sores on lips or even in my nose. Then like a light switch after two months I broke into the clear and have not had any issues since. Just wanted to give you a heads up. It got worse before it got better.
Yes I take 18n mg per day. I have been taking it continuously since October. I will continue for at least 6 months. After seeing my results my ENT requested I stay on it for 6 months and then we will do another hearing test. My primary care agrees that I should take it continuously. I think when you are using it for parasites the suggestion is to cycle the dose but I am not doing that. My symptoms have greatly improved. I had 76% word recognition in my affected ear that is now 100%. No fullness or pressure in my head. I have a slight ringing in my affected ear that I notice on some days and some days I don't. It's been amazing.
I have not yet started my 1 week rx of Acyclovir as I really wanted to research side effect first. With that in mind, @CBerlin , would you suggest skipping my rx and trying Iverm. first? I've yet to find much info on negative side effects for Iverm. users.
