I suggest that you try a 500mg dose, to see if that doesn't cause diarrhea. The fact that that single 1000mg does appeared to prevent vertigo is very promising. See if a 500mg dose can do the same thing, without inducing diarrhea. --John of Ohio
@John of Ohio thank you. Okay so just to be clear, I should take 500mg 3 times a day instead of 1000mg 3 times a day? And if vertigo symptoms flare up I should try to up the dose to 3000mg and deal with the loose stools.
I didn't make myself clear. My apologies. I suggest that for a time, perhaps a week, you take just a single 500mg dose each day (at least 20 minutes before eating, or at least 2 hours after a meal). Then, for the next week take a single 1000mg dose, for a second week. See if that doesn't cause any diarrhea. The following week, try two 1000mg doses; 1000mg in the morning, and a second 1000mg dose in the evening. If all is well, continue that for two or three weeks. Hopefully, that dosing regimen will suppress the herpes virus. If it doesn't, try two, separated 1000mg doses, with in the evening a single 500mg dose. With all of this you are gently, incrementally increasing daily doses to see if any of these provide relief from symptoms (vertigo, fullness), without episodes of diarrhea. Keep us posted on how all of this progresses. --John of Ohio --
Hi @EAOfficial! Could you please share Dr. Gacek's contact info? I want to make sure I’m contacting the correct doctor.
Hi John, in parallel to this regimen, have you also eliminated arginine? For example chocolate, almonds, nuts etc..? Or is, in your experience, lisine enough?
No, I never changed my diet to eliminate or reduce arginine. If lysine is present, it preferentially substitutes for arginine in the herpes virus replication enzyme, thereby terminating the activity of the enzyme and the replication of the virus. -- John of Ohio
I have been on the Lysine a few weeks ago and last week I introduced the Ginkgo, I don't know if its related but ive had 2 bouts of vertigo since starting the Ginkgo ( I am also on betahistine), should I trail stopping the ginkgo or is it unrelated. Previously I would only have drop attacks and not vertigo on other days. @John of Ohio
When I started on JOH and Valacyclovir things got worse before they got better. It was almost like it was fighting harder. It took me two awful months to break into the clear.
With the regimen, this "things bad at the start' phenomenon is common. Apparently, when lysine begins to substitute for arginine, in the herpes virus replication enzyme, the virus actually increases its pathology. But only for a period. In virtually all of the many cases I've learned of this, this "bad at the start" thing indicates that if one persists the virus eventually is defeated; fails to replicate and cannot induce Meniere's symptoms. It's a sign that the virus will actually be suppressed. --John of Ohio
Ginko is a minor component of the regimen. It can be deleted with minimal bad effects. --John of Ohio
Hi @John of Ohio I was prescribed 500mg of valacyclovor 1X a day. Do you think that will be a high enough dosage to stop replication of the HSV1 virus?
Hi @John of Ohio I was prescribed 500mg of valacyclovor 1X a day. Do you think that will be a high enough dosage to stop replication of the HSV1 virus?
I have no expertise or experience that can answer that question. Valacyclovir is a prescription drug. Do an info search on valacyclovir dosages. --John of Ohio
I'll take a stab at this question. From my experience that seems a bit low to stop the replication of the virus. Currently I'm taking 1 gram, 3 times a day, but you can probably get good results from 2 grams a day. I'd up the dose.
Been taking 3 gram/day for 7 years...never gonna quit. It took 6 months from the day of starting valacyclovir till the vertigo ended. Did take lysine but about 4 years ago I ended that.
Thank you! I’m having a hard time getting my PCP to prescribe me more than 1000mg. I’m hoping that’ll be enough to stop replication.
