Posting & General Guidelines

Below is Menieres.org's general posting guidelines. For a more detailed summary click to read our Terms & Conditions of Use. Menieres.org allows and encourages users to post all kinds of neato content, including reviews, photos, events, votes, tips, private messages, articles and more. Here, all professional, kindergarten and karmic rules apply. Playing nice isn’t rocket science, but just in case, we’ve put together these general guidelines. Please read the guidelines below to gain clarity on the types of content you may want to submit (or not - because when Karma's not happy, nobody's happy!).
  • Inappropriate content: Quippy, clever, and insightful words and imagery are fabulous! But there's no need or tolerance for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, and other displays of bigotry. Not kidding. Menieres.org as ZERO tolerance policy for this kind of rhetoric. So just don't. OK?
  • Conflicts of Interest: Please don't promote your own business unless invited to do so by the owners of Menieres.org.
  • Relevance: Please make sure your contributions are relevant and stick to The Golden Rule. For example, the forums, comments sections, and/or message boards aren't the place for rants about about a doctor, medical treatments, treatment ideologies/theories/practices, political ideologies, extraordinary circumstances, or other matters that don't address the core of the Menieres.org visitor/member's experience. We do encourage transparency so if you've had a negative consumer experience, help by offering potential solutions along with the news that they let you down. See Review Guidelines below.
  • Be Helpful: A lot of people will benefit from your questions and answers, so stick to questions that are also relevant to others, don’t ask loaded questions or make presumptions, and keep the tone civil and non-argumentative. A little humor is fine, but if you really don’t have anything meaningful to add, best not to say anything at all.
  • Be specific: Although broad questions and generic answers may get a large response, they might not provide quality information you’re looking for. By adding more context and details into your questions/answers you’ll get more focused information and meaningful conversation. Also, keep your questions limited to the business at hand. Topics like “what is the best restaurant in town” are not helpful unless having a specific conversation (IE - traveling to a hospital and want to know more about the area.)
  • Be clear: If your question or answer isn’t easy to understand, it is less likely to receive answers. On the flip side your unclear answer is less likely to help another so ensure your questions/answers have as much detail as possible to get the best possible results for everyone.
  • Avoid: Answering a question with another question; this detracts from the original question and isn’t very helpful.
  • Privacy: Don't publicize other people's private information. Please don't post close-up photos of other people without their permission, and please don't post other people's full names unless you're referring to service providers who are commonly identified by their full names.
  • Intellectual property: This particular guideline is a real hot button for us here at Menieres.org. Please, please, please don't swipe content from other sites or users. Trust in your own smarts and artistic ability. Don't deny yourself the opportunity to create your own awesome reviews, photos and articles, tips, posts, etc.! You'll do great work!
  • Personal Profile: Don't be shy — use your account profile to let people know who you are and what makes you tick. You're here to get support and, in return, support others who suffer from or are a caretaker for someone with Meniere's Disease. Let your light shine!
  • Public Comments & Forum Posts: Menieres.org is the place for open and honest conversations about what's going on in your life and health. While it's easy to engage and post on here, take care with what you post. We know you're hurting and maybe scared. But others are, too. A dash of common sense goes a long way.
  • User Trust and Transparency These two things are extremely important to us. Anonymous users who are disruptive to the community will be permanently banned.
  • Messaging Guidelines: Menieres.org as a handy messaging feature to keep you connected with other forum members. First off, please don't use this feature to harass other users or send other inappropriate content. Second, user accounts are for personal, non-commercial use only. Spammers and business solicitors will be permanently banned from the Menieres.org website and forums.
  • Video: Videos are a terrific way to communicate. Some of you will find joy, freedom, and healing by posting vlogs. That's AWESOME! However, we do not allow imagery showing violence, drug use, nudity, near nudity, or suggestive acts. Also, please don't use your video to disparage other businesses, users or Menieres.org; request or solicit business of any kind.

Review Guidelines

Perhaps you've received a medical, alternative, or natural treatment or medication or supplement that helped - or not. We love reviews and tips that are passionate and transparent. Remember, words are powerful beyond measure so what you write could alter the course of someone's life. Here are some additional things to consider for conscious reviewers and posters.
  • Personal experience: We want to hear about your firsthand experience. When you share the sacred moments from your own life you offer a wealth of knowledge from which consumers and business folks can glean insight and helpful tips. From your story they will be able to plan the best purchases, treatments, etc. for them. Isn't it cool to be part of that?
  • Accuracy: Make sure your review is factually correct. Feel free to air your opinions, but don't misrepresent your experience. We don't take sides when it comes to factual disputes, so we expect you to stand behind your review.
  • Review updates: Review updates should reflect a new experience or interaction with the business. Living in the past isn't helpful to anyone (mostly you) so don't tell the same old story you've already told. If you'd like to add new insight to an old experience, just edit your review instead of creating a new update.
