Yesterday I had a filling. It was supposed to be small, but the dentist said it was deeper than he thought and "almost" to the nerve. I had a small spin in the chair from the drill vibrating, but after he was done I was good to go. The dentist did say it was so close to the nerve that he had to put some fluoride stuff on it before filling it to try to "calm that angry nerve" and if that didn't work I was going to have to have a root canal. (UGH lets hope it works he said I'd know in 3-5 days)
I woke up this morning with a full on spin. I haven't had one like this in a long long time. I called in to work and took an antivert and went back to bed. All the same garbage that I deal with when I have a bad spin (except the anxiety) Im dealing with. Tired, extra bad balance, ear pressure, fluid draining from ear (been doing that every time I have an attack since day one go figure) you know the works. I had pressure and pain in my ears for weeks prior, and missed my meds last week once. I chalked it up to the stormy summer afternoons we have and left it at that.

Could the dental work have started this? Has that ever happened to you?

I had one bad experience following a root canal. I was dizzy through it the whole time but when he finished and I got up to go back to the waiting room to wait for my husband to pick me up, as I entered the waiting room I had a drop attack. I had the invisible force throw me over, luckily I fell onto the chairs, if they were not there I would have been thrown to the floor.

I thought I would go for the "free" laughing gas for a complex root canal. I will never do that again! just one whiff an I pulled it right off my face. Who needs to feel goofy/off and not thinking clear on purpose? I have had enough of that magically on my own! I was OK from that, thankfully, but while I was under just for the tiny bit I was under, he jammed a biteblock in as large as they come and and as far back as they come. I have severe TMJ issues, and that was a a HUGE issue afterwards. After I pulled that out I ripped a strip off of him, as I has written my TMJ issues on the intake form. He said nothing and just went to work. Funny, when I checked out the receptionist told me they would send me a post card for a "free" recheck. As I had paid $800, I said to her something about it wasn't "free," just already paid for. Funny, I never got the post card as as I was feeling fine, didn't ever want to see him again.

I wouldn't recommend the gas, whatever the real name is!

My dizzies have gotten to "manageable" levels, but now my jaw, the whole thing not just the top where my tooth was filled, aches. I had no jaw pain yesterday... :-( This is not good.

Lock jaw can cause vertigo. It is very hard to isolate the variable. Obviously, the teeth and the sinuses are next to each other too.

I have had dizziness after dental work as well. I hope you feel better.

Your jaw may have become misaligned. Tell your dentist about the jaw pain and see if he has a solution for you.

My wife thinks dental work may have triggered the massive Menieres attack I had on May 11, 2002, which started me on my unpleasant and continuing Memieres journey, and she may be right. I had 28 crowns put in from around November, 2001 to mid-April, 2002. Tons of drilling and innumerable hours in the dentist's chair. I think I may have had latent Menieres symptoms before that work, and will never know if it was the ultimate trigger. I do know I have had almost no dental work since except for regular teeth cleanings, which do not seem to trigger attacks.
