Famvir. I started with acyclovir the first month which did give me some relief. My dr prefers famvir because she thinks it works best for this kind of thing.
Thank You June, I tried antivirals and they did not have any effect on my symptoms. I will ask my physician if i can try Famvir at my 6 month checkup.
your dosage will need to be adjusted to how long you've had the beast I got temporary relief after I upped my dosage to 2800mg a day lasted 3 mths and am back in the same place I've been in for 25 yrs kept taking the 2800mg for about 9 mths and now take 2 tabs a day for the hell of it tried allergy shots and went bilateral after a week stopped them and the sob has settled back home in my left ear can talk on the phone pretty good again with my right ear am starting a regime with a guy from Australia/wish me luck!
thanks I truly thought a/v's were my ticket I think those little bastard virus cells figured out a way around my a/v's who knows good luck to all
I mentioned this in another one of my threads a few days ago... Since I have started cutting back on the amount I nurse my 4 month old son, my ear has felt like it cleared a few times for a couple hours. But it happened days apart each time. My oto had mentioned to me back in June that breastfeeding could *possibly* be playing a part in how bad I feel. This could completely be a coincidence but since I started the anti-virals on Friday my ear cleared for a short time on Saturday, and twice yesterday. I went to bed feeling pretty good but woke up with my ear feeling full again. I realize anti-virals can take a long time and also that I am taking a low dose, but I can't help but hope that this is a good sign. These short spurts of feeling better were a lot closer together than in the past couple weeks. We will just have to wait and see what happens I guess.
Best of luck deadeye,I believe you are on the right path to relief. Be patient and stay strong even though its not easy.
