I'm going to need a dental implant in my left lower mouth. My regular dentist is sending me to a specialist who does implants as well as other dental surgeries for a consultation tomorrow Monday at 4:15 p.m. Does anybody here have dental implants? It's a surgical procedure. What can I expect? Is it very painful? How much does it usually cost? daBronx
I had two. Did not affect my hearing. I took Advil and did not even have to open the pain pills. It is very expensive. You pay for the implants and then pay separately for the crowns that go on them. Price depends on your area and drs. The process took a long time start to finish. Months because there is a waiting time after the implant is done. At least in my case. How tricky it all is depends on how much bone is present where the imant goes and if a graft is needed. Your mileage may vary. Ask the dentists what to expect. Now that it is done I have been very happy I did it.
Last month I broke a gold crown I had on the right lower side of my mouth. My regular dentist replaced that with a porcelain crown. That cost me $1280.
Good luck to you surgically and financially! I had a tooth pulled on the side (I notice a lot of people are missing that tooth) that I spent over $2k (2 roots canals and 2 apicoectomies ) trying to save it. I don't know if it was real or phantom pain, but I was happy to see it gone and have no desire to get an implant.
I had my consultation with the oral surgeon this afternoon.I decided to go ahead with it.They took a panoramic x-ray of my teeth.I made an appointment to have it done next Tuesday at 11 a.m.They said it takes 4 months for the jaw and tissues to heal. The charge for just the implant is $2,600.Then I'll have to go back to my dentist for the crown.
Had dental implant surgery this morning on tooth #19.I had a local anesthetic. The surgery went well.I don't feel any pain or see any swelling.I'm taking Norco every 6 hours and advil every 3 hours.Peridex mouth wash will begin tomorrow twice daily, once after breakfast and once before bed.Need to eat soft foods today than return to normal diet after today, but can't eat on left side. It'll take 3 months for implant to heal. Then my old dentist will have to seat the crown. So hopefully God willing by the end of the year I'll be able to eat with no problems.
