Everyone here has different symptom profiles. I'd like to hear more, and also hear some opinions on me! Meniere's MM?Sudden onset, R sided low frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. Occasional L tinnitus. Different types of tinnitis - midrange fuzzy/buzz, sometimes clicking, sometime the buzzing is pulsatile. Hyperacousis in crowded places. Episodes of loss of balance, vertigo, with or without vomiting. Used to get some warning, now sudden onset. Ativan, Clonazepam, Gravol, Imovane help. I had fancy balance tests done by a Neuro-Otologist. Phone call message simply said it was "normal". So does that rule out Menieres?? ?Migraine - tight feeling up neck, hard to think, nausea, tired - tends to be triggered by sleeping in or weather changes (lots here in Calgary!), get them at the same time others around me get migraines. Rarely get a visual aura first. Usually responds to Ibuprofen. ?Migraine Associated Vertigo - those vertigo episodes tend to have been more often when I've already had clusters of my usual pattern migraine, and when I was weaning off Effexor and Wellbutrin. Some attacks were after high salt meals... though other times I've tolerated salt. Good luck - open to opinions and suggestions!
Have you gone back to your primary care doctor? Sometimes he/she can put together pieces of the whole puzzle, but the specialist may look just at his/her particular area. Just my two cents. It's very hard to be experiencing those kinds of symptoms and not have a label. I know -- it took several months! In the meantime, the neurologist was thinking tumor, stroke, or something wrong with my vestibular system. So glad in my case it's Meniere's and not the others!!! Hope you get some answers soon. It's nerve-wracking not knowing.
Did you have an mri? Phone call? You mean a recording? The neurotologist should have a follow up appointment to give you his opinion.
Yes, I had a brain MRI a few years ago - no tumor, no MS, etc. You guys are right, I should not have accepted the "vestibular testing normal so no follow-up required" phone call. I'm just happy to avoid thinking about it when things are well. Now that The Beast has returned, I will (ugh!!) try to make myself arrange an appointment.
Just spent the whole morning trying to do the simple task of rebooking with dr beth Lange. Have to get rereferral from gp, dr beth moved offices so they don't have my records etc. 3 weeks to see gp but I got an urgent appointment at an after hours clinic to get the ball rolling. I will keep pushing for my records to be available to dr beth. If they are not ( vestib testing and all!!) I'll be reporting her to the college. Rant all done! Wish me luck.
