I have been having 'tremors' and they are scary--could they be part of Meniere's

Question: Has anyone here had what I call body 'tremors' meaning my body will shake like I'm having a chill. I have been associating it with an anti-depressant I'm taking but since I'm also soooo dizzy by mid afternoon after having bad bouts of the tremors usually mornings, that I began to wonder if they are in anyway associated with Meniere's.
I know and infection in one's body can cause them, and I've done some research and found out several things can cause them, but these started after being on the medication. The doctor said it was not something usually associated with the low dose of this med. My head will 'jerk' too when these occur, and my hands shake. I can tense my muscles and they go away, but if I'm just sitting or laying down, my hands and body will shake--or when I'm up and about too sometimes! :(
Still, it really is upsetting when it occurs--mostly daily and usually mornings. Goes away or at least diminishes by afternoon but sometimes comes and goes all day. Sometimes I have to get under a blanket just to try to relax and get 'warm' when it's not really cold I'm' feeling. Guess I'll have to go off the medication and see, but it's helped with depression and we all know how this 'beast' can cause that. Now the anxiety due to the tremors is almost as bad as depression (but not quite). Anyway--just wondered?? thanks

I think if this started with a new medication that is probably the cause.,of course consult with your Dr but there are so many medications to help with depression there must be other options.

After a severe attack, dizziness, vomiting, etc., I have gotten chills, but nothing like what you're describing.,I have had the same thing after panic attacks, but again not as severe and not long lasting.

    I have depression issues, too.
    I take 10mg. Lexapro 1X
    75 mg. Lamectal 1X

    Klonipin .05- 1-2 times a day

If it doesn't stop after going off AD you might want to research Dysautonomia. I have those symptoms from autonomic nervous disorder. Good luck!

I agree as my Dr addressed both the anxiety and the depression. It was the first time a Dr had done that. As soon as he put me on different meds, my panic attacks stopped as well. They were brutal and sometimes went on and off all day.
I'm a stress kind of person. Stress leads me to anxiety. It's the way I think. I have a habit of rehashing things all day. I'm getting better at that. Much better.

I hope you can figure this out so you can get some relief. I know how it affects your quality of life. I know how scary it is. I see how afraid you are. You need to control the anxiety as well as the depression.

I wish you the best of luck!

Well, I've told myself the same thing! :) the quality of life that Meniere's interrupts, for so very long--and then you look for answers and anxiety begins and then depression or the other way around. I am under the care of a doctor and therapist. I also know certain meds cause the symptoms I have and it seems I'm one of those who cannot take certain meds for many conditions we develop over our lifetime.
I only look at websites (like this one) that are good ones and even here there or 'gloom and doom' things, but mostly encouragement!
Today I've had 'no tremors--at all' and just the dizziness and feeling tired but keeping busy. So, it may happen again tomorrow and maybe not. Just wondered if folks here had it and if it was another thing we have to deal with--evidently some do, but it's not due to Meniere's but to the anxiety it causes. I agree with all of you on that for sure. Thanks for your input. I keep on keeping on. That helps and maybe even have to change to a different medication or get off of it altogether. We'll see. Thanks everyone :)

I've developed tremors as well this summer -- most noticeably in my hands but I can sometimes feel it in other body parts -- though the hands are the only visible part. Around the time this started, my oto also started me on a low dose of Nortriptylene for possible vestibular migraine, which I believe at higher doses is also an anti-depressant. I started at 10mg and he had me increase slowly to 30mg. Due to this possible side effect, and the fact that things have been up and down for me in terms of symptoms, I am now weaning back down to not taking it. I'm on a different anti migraine med meanwhile, which is highly unlikely to cause tremor. I'm seeing another oto next month, looking for a second opinion regarding the vestib migraine aspect.

I've tried to find a pattern to the tremors and I am pretty sure they are worst/most noticable in the morning (I take the meds at night before bed). At first I freaked out thinking I'd developed another terrible old person disease (I am 40 and keep having these things that are more typically for older people crop up) but I am hopeful it was just this Rx. The tremors are already improving and I've only stepped down to 20mg so far.

Yes, I imagine the meds are the cause of your tremors. I've read that the serotonin in the brain can be so affected in some people that it can cause this. I have talked to my doctor, since my earlier post--he is having me wean off the med. every other day for 2 weeks, then every 3rd day for 2 weeks, and so on until I'm off of it. Hoping the anxiety/depression is something I can deal with and that coming off this medication doesn't cause even more problems. I took Nortriptylene too for the 'migraine type symptoms' but the two meds together were making me have more of the above symptoms, so I had to discontinue that too. I've tried many anti-dep. and cannot tolerate the side effects. Thought this one was 'the one' because depression was better, but then the body symptoms that became worse after 4 mos. on it, made me re-think this and so that's where I am today. Good luck to you, do hope you feel better soon. Please keep us updated. I'm sure more folks here deal with these symptoms than have replied. :)

I smiled when reading about 'old person disease.' Looking from my 83 years at your 40 years, you're still a youngster. Besides, I don't believe there is truly such a thing as 'old person disease.' Any age or stage in life can develop any health problem known to mankind.

Adding this today: I am weaning off the meds---per my doctor. Slowly too. Right now, alot more feelings of being dizzy and nauseated.
Wonder how long this goes on? I've been on the meds 4 mos. And though it has helped depression, the last few weeks of awful trembling and head jerking, etc. just made me say--I don't need this for sure! Will do my best now to handle what I have to--hopefully without the meds! Sometimes you just have to 'get tough' and I'm trying so hard to do that! :)

Thanks for this thread. I am having several bad days in a row with very diminished hearing, roaring, clicking, ringing, noise distortion/sensitivity, headache, and dizziness. This morning after I'd been up while, I went to the sink to fill my water glass and I nearly blacked out. I got back on the couch and waited it out to see if a full-on vertigo attack was coming. I too had shakes, sweats, chills, and was terrified. I thought about taking the Ativan my ENT Dr prescribed but had just gotten the Vertigoheel from Bulgaria. I did not know how much to take but disolved one tab and it seemed to take the edge off although the other symptoms are still raging. I am not even sure when I should take the Ativan. Right away to prevent or after awhile once it seems I know where I might be with it? I just took a second Vertigoheel and feel far better than 7 am (now 2:45 pm) but still trembly and very tender. Since I have been out of work and life for more than two years, the anxiety and depression must be part of this too. In therapy and reluctant to take more meds as suggested by my Dr's. Tried the Nortrypltiline twice and both times I felt both so amped up and yawny and finally progressively worse panic attacks, that I gave it up. This is hell :'(

Tremors are not caused by anxiety IMO trembling is though.
