I was reading over the old posts and read a sentence by Hurricaneone after his laby that really struck a chord. He wrote, "I feel like I'm in another universe or on some strong new medication." That's exactly what I'm feeling!! I've never seen anyone mention it before. I'm so curious to know how long it lasted?! If you've had this experience, please chime in. If you know how to contact Hurricane, please let me know that, too! I'm assuming he's not posting much these days since he got his life back.
I remember hurricaneone. He had a laby just before I did. He did extremely well and I believe his comment might have meant that he was doing so well he felt like he was on a new medication, a new start on life. I know he continued to do well and was doing well the last time he posted. You might try PMing him, also I think Bulldogs keeps in touch with him so you might ask BD. Glad you are feeling well, it just keeps getting better!
Hey Acujen, I actually talked to Larry/hurricaneone on the phone yesterday for a while. I think he had just gotten off the golf course and shot a 73. PM me if you want and I will give you his number, he's out living life but I am sure he would be happy to hear from you and talk with you. Joe/BD
Acujen I do remember feeling like I was on a strong med , sort of disconnected at times during my recovery from the Laby . The trick to getting your life back is to get active and stay active. If you stay on the couch I think recovery will take a very long time. As far as me I am doing great. I do whatever I want but I do try to protect my good ear. For those who are on the fence about having the Laby , if you are unilateral, end your misery get the Laby. The worry about going bilateral will always be there, but my thoughts are, if it is going to happen it will anyway. My 4 year old grandson got me on a huge water slide this weekend and I now know I am to old for that LOL. If he had not said I love you PaPa come on lets do the water slide then we would not be talking about water slides.Remember this as David told me , Dont let menieres control your life. Good Luck and remember always pray for a cure so our loved ones will never have to deal with this . Larry
I'm so glad to hear you are all doing well. I've read through all your posts (redwing, hurricane, and bulldog) a thousand times. They gave me so much strength. I had the laby 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I think it was a smart decision. The hardest part is actually stopping the benzos! The withdrawal effect is terrible. I can't tell if the "brain zaps" I feel are related to my ear/brain healing from the laby or my brain/body healing from the benzo use. Did any of you feel this after the laby? Also, how the heck do I PM someone?
Just click on their name and press the send message button, type your message and hot send. Stop those benzo's and let the body heal, 3 weeks you are right on schedule, I predict in 3 more weeks you will disappear forever from this site. Larry is a competitive golfer who travels around to tournaments and wins them. He also raises/baby sits his 4 year old grandson and goes to water parks to ride slides and anything else he wants------as he says don't' let menieres run your life, get out and enjoy life and stay active. The laby means you will never get vertigo again from that ear. Let your body heal and adjust. My love is water sports (skiing, jet skiing, surfing, swimming) and riding my bike and the laby allows me to do these without fear. Your right on track Joe PS: only use a benzo if you really need one!
