I am new to the forum today. I was diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago after a severe vertigo attack. The symptom that bothers me the most is with my vision. Since that attack everything I see looks to me like a hand held video image. Like my eyes are fixed in place and everything moves as I move my head. Does anyone experience the same thing and if so, is there anything that can be done to relieve it?
What you describe sounds to me like occilopsia. If your occilopsia is constant, or permanent, I would think this implies some level of permanent disfunction or deficit of one or both of your vestibular systems. Certainly Meniere's disease can cause this. For those of us who had surgical intervention for our meniere's (labyrinthectomy or VNS), occilopsia is a common post-op side affect. But over time, we learn to compensate and it gradually fades. Vestibular Rehap helps with this sort of thing, but then if you still are still dealing with meniere's, your vestibular system may not be stable enough to get much benefit from vestibular rehab. Sounds like we may need a little more of your history.
I have a lot of visual problems. I'm not sure I would describe mine same as yours but my eyes are fixed & things seem to be moving. Sometimes it feels like I'm looking in a kaleidoscope but without the color. Mine seems worse when I am stressed. I
Thank you so much for your response. It is reassuring to hear from people who are experiencing the same thing. I researched occilopsia and the symptoms are exactly what I have noticed in myself. There are many exercises listed and I am going to begin to try a few of them tonight. Thanks again for all your help!
