My ear was clear for the last 13 days and I only had one vertigo day. The fifth day of being clear. Last night low pressure system moved in and the fullness is back. supposed to rain all day. It's a light rain and cloudy. But, it was cloudy several days this past week and my ear stayed clear. Must be the rain this time.
I never understood about barometric pressure until today when I googled the subject. What prompted me to do so was the fact that some of you have posted about how you feel during changes in the weather. Today was a difficult day for me with brain fog and dizziness and general all over feeling lousy. Stormy weather is moving in to the area. From now on I'll take notice of the weather and the barometer.
I just posted about this in another thread but I had been feeling pretty good lately. Then Wednesday afternoon my ear filled up and hearing went down and then a couple hours later storms moved in. It continued to storm all day yesterday and my ear was still bad. I woke up this morning and the storms had passed, clear skies... and a clear ear for me! Crazy how that works.
I feel like hell today. Hearing almost gone in affected ear, fullness, tinnitus, headachy, roaring and more sensitivity to motion and sound. In San Francisco, we are having a heat spell but 100% clear. How do you find out whether your area is having a low pressure system and how does this work? I googled it and it gives some numbers but they have no meaning due to not having a relative comparison. Help? Wondering how this might be effecting my MM. I am also wondering about allergens too as I have been sneezing and blowing my nose even after being on my daily Allegra tab and tried another kind of antihistamine this morning, plus flushing my nasal passages with a nettie pot with water and 1 drop of GSE which usually drains my head amazingly well but no change :'( Any input would be very much appreciated! Holly
Hope this helps, HollyFlo - Normal barometric pressure @ sea level is 29.92. Below 29.50 pressure is significant and is associated with stormy weather. Above 30.50 is significant and is associated with calm weather. One way you can find out your local pressure is to type in your search engine www.weather.com. A map will come up and on the right you will type in your area's zipcode or city and state. There will be all kinds of info and under the Forecast, open Weather Details. Look down the list and you will find your Pressure. Let me know how you do.
Thanks for the inputs. So is the change in Barometric pressure rather than the pressure itself that seems to set MM off? Its been warm but very consistant in San Francisco but had the worst morning of the whole disease today.. The Big Mystery :-X ??? Holly
It is raining right now and my ear is horrible. So much pressure, low hearing, crazy tinnitus. Its hard to not say anything when people at work keep complaining about the rain. I know its not their fault but man, I am sick of hearing "I wish it would quit raining". I wish all the rain did was make my commute slower and get a little wet walking to my car but no, I have to get tortured by my ear. Blah. Sorry feeling extremely frustrated today.
This last bit of aural fullness started the same day a low pressure system moved in. It stuck around about 4 days. However; the weather has been clear for about 7 days now and my ear is still full.
Holly, I hope this passes for you soon. Yes other people have no idea and make you want to just scream! ((((( HUGS )))))
