    Hey Everyone. Chatty Kathy here!

I looked at the old archives and the database to see what discussions there were on using sound machines to help 'mask' tinnitus. There were a couple of three-person discussions but nothing very spefic or conclusive that I found. Maybe I missed something?

I notice that running a fan on 'white noiuse' speed helps with sleep. Not so good when it get cold here and don't like the wind unless I am tucked under the down comforter. I also was walking with a friend on the beach Sunday and noticed that sound drowned out quite readily the ringing and roaring. Wonderful but can't walk forever!

    So….

I am looking at a couple of sound machines from the Sharper Image online catalogue. Has anyone one out there found a really good one, with good speakers or anything that has worked for you? I would like to know about expriences with this good or bad. Gracious.

Darned!!! The Blue Angles just started flying over my apartment and this will be going on for 4 days. Sounds like being bombed. Loud, booming, brash, jangling. Shit. Need that machine NOW!!!!

I use this white noise machine
    http://www.amazon.com/Marpac-DOHM-DS-Natural-actual-Machine/dp/B000KUHFGM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412960748&sr=8-2&keywords=white+noise+machine

as well as this sound machine
    http://www.amazon.com/Conair-Sound-Therapy-Machine/dp/B000F54AN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412960748&sr=8-1&keywords=white+noise+machine

I find that neither completely masks the sound but they do help as a sort of distraction. For me, the only way to completely mask the sound so as if it's no longer there, is to find something on the same exact frequency as your tinnitus. The only things I ever found to do this were my old refrigerator and the ice dispenser at work, neither of which would be appropriate in my bedroom!

Nice to meet you Zotjen. I think this is the first post I've seen from you since I have been on. I'll add the links you provided to my list of considerations. Thanks so much!

Not a 'sound machine' per se, however, using the software program, Tinnitus Masker Deluxe, I was able to create a pretty good match to my own ‘pink noise+’. Once you have found yours, I suppose you could make your own audio CD and let the ‘noise mask track’ play for as long as you like.

I am unable to get on their site right now, so here's a link with some info ... http://tinnitus-masker-deluxe.software.informer.com/

    Good luck, Hollyflo.
