For those of you who suffer from vertigo which leads to vomiting, once you do vomit have you noticed that your vertigo immediately begins to gradually subside? Also, if you suffer from tinnitus and/or hearing distortion, do you find that it somewhat improves after the vertigo attack? Last night I suffered my third ever vertigo attack (the second being back in February and the first over 7 years ago), and each time when it got to the point that I had to vomit, once I did, the spinning began to slow down and I was back to normal within an hour. My tinnitus is also pretty low today and I have very little distortion. On a side note, I'm not sure if these vertigo episodes were a result of my ear. I'm assuming they are since I do suffer from hydrops. I do recall reading though that vertigo attacks can be very infrequent with Meniere's. What concerns me is that for the past month or so I've been getting dizzy spells 2 or three times a week. These usually last only a few minutes and differ from the vertigo in that the spinning is not as severe and I don't get nauseous. I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday so I'll see what he thinks.
Throwing up always makes one feel better. I have known people who have consumed too much alcohol and have had to throw up. After they throw up they feel better. Sometimes they only feel better for a little while. And then they throw up some more. Depends on how much alcohol poisoning they have. As far as the vertigo I get. I don't usually throw up. Somehow I talk myself out of throwing up. But, I do have to lay down and go to sleep and then I am wiped out for hours. I have thrown up a couple of times and still had to go to sleep for awhile before I felt better and even then I was still wiped out. The last few times I have had vertigo I have not thrown up. I was diagnosed two and a half years ago with MM. During the first two years I only had vertigo 3 times each year. And, my ear never had the aural fullness. This past spring I got the fullness, which I thought I was just going deaf. Then I found out people who have been dealing with this MM for quite a while and discovered it is caused by a virus and so I learned about antivirals. After a four days on antivirals my ear went clear and I could hear pretty darn good. YAY!! I'm not going deaf.!!! However; I started getting vertigo everyday or every other day for a couple of weeks. Then my ear went full again. And for a week no vertigo. Then clear and vertigo. And now full again for 11 days and no vertigo. Dizziness, yes, but not much. No big deal. Kind of feels like vertigo might be starting but it only lasts 10-20 seconds. Good Health to You You will get a lot of advice on this forum to take antivirals as most here believe it is a virus. Check out previous posts about acyclovir and JOH's Regime. What's weird to me is if my ear has aural fullness I don't get vertigo.
I used to have those episodes where you would barf and shit yourself at the same time. Talk about a clean up job. The laby was a beautiful thing for me.
For me if I had/have an attack and vomit, it has no connection to the length of time of the attack. There are some attacks that were longer (but puking all the time) and some were shorter (but puking). If anything vomiting seemed to make me feel worse because my head was moving during the attack. However, the days leading up to a bad attack with major ear issues, fatigue, ringing etc....after a full attack I would sometimes have a break where I felt a bit better. But keep in mind that is feeling better from when I felt horrible - not necessarily feeling perfectly good.
