So I had a pretty busy week. Tonight when I tried to lay down to sleep I could hear my heartbeat in my ear. I switched sides but I could still hear it. I'm bilateral but this was my bad ear. I have a busy weekend planned too. Anybody ever experience this?
Yes. I had a similar sensation once my head/body cold was ending. A cold or flu has always been a trigger for a large noise increase in my Tinnitus level. This time, however, I increased my SERC (Betahistine) to double my regular dosage (from 176mg/day to 320mg/day). That did the trick. The (heart) beating in my ear soon passed and the Tinnitus fell back to barely there. Good luck, BumbleBea. Sincerely.
Love your handle, BumbleBea! I have the same heartbeat sound in my ears often, and I'm told by my ENT that it is called pulsatile tinnitus. According to www.vestibular.org, pulsatile tinnitus is "a rhythmic pulsing sound that sometimes occurs in time with the heartbeat. This is typically a result of noise from blood vessels close to the inner ear. - See more at: http://vestibular.org/tinnitus#sthash.1gOC0AzX.dpuf." Hope you find this helpful! Jay in Denver
I get that all the time. I am bilateral, but was first a lefty. I usually experience it in my left ear, but mostly when I am lying on my right side. Thankfully I prefer to sleep on my left side so it isn't as bad. It can freak you out though.
Hey Denver thank you! Thanks everyone for your input and I looked up the site. It was very informative. Sometimes it just makes you feel better knowing others have the same experience thus you're not going crazy. Just one more wonderful aspect of this disease. It was raining very hard that day. And I had some anxiety about being with a family member on Sat. So maybe it was a combo of both. It's gone now. Whew!
Yup I've had it on and off. Currently for a couple of weeks - had a cold, migraines, vertigo, crazy weather, stress, spring finally arrived.
I experience it quite regularly. I'm bilateral, but it tends to occurs more often in my originally diagnosed "bad" ear (right).
