Has anyone tried the meniett device?
I had my ventilation tube put in my ear drum weds and have since used the device.
Can you say relief?! Non invasive procedure and has been proven to help with vertigo. Which was the worst of my symptoms for 6 years.
Worst part of the procedure is slight hearing loss. If that's the price you have to pay to get your life back...it's well worth it. Considering you lose hearing with each attack.
    Anybody else had this done?

I've been using the Meniett for eight years, regularly, 3 xs a day. I have had so many ventilation tubes put in that I now have what appears to be a permanent hole in my eardrum. The only problem with that is frequent ear infections due to accidentally getting water in my ear. I got caught in the rain a few weeks ago and got an infection. I use a specially molded earplug for showering but didn't have time to put one in in the sudden rain. I think the Meniett helps me, but it is one of like 20 interventions in place to lessen the symptoms of Meniere's. I still get attacks but they are much shorter and way less severe. I've been battling this monster since 1997.

deadeye I hope you are not taking olive leaf and lysine, if you recall on old forums the Olive leaf suppresses the lysine abilities to suppress the virus

    here is the thread

    only thing I found was

    • Can I take olive leaf extract with acyclovir?
In the absence of trials, it is better not to mix pharmaceutical drugs and herbal extracts.
There are no published tests to my knowledge to check whether they will work better or worse together. As a rule though one should pick one or the other philosophy rather than a mixture of both.

(Margie where did you get your special molded ear plug? I'm using the silicon water proof and don't like them)

Perem, the audiology department made the molded earplug for me. It is a very simple process. They make a mold and send it out; a few days later they call when you can come and pick the finished plug up. And yes, you need a tube in order to use the Meniett, except in my case where the tube fell out so many times it appears the hole is now permanent.

I tried the Meniett and it worked for me. Actually just having the tubes put in helped immensely. Your hearing will get better about a week after the tubes have been put in and the ear drum starts to heal.
