I was doing so well walking without my stick for over a week and then bam as we were going through Home depot it h it me. It was a good thing I grabbed a cart. I barely keep my stomach contents. Now I am here at home gagging and nauseated and ready to just cry. I am supposed to workout tomorrow and I am on a roll and the room wont stop spinning I feel like I am on a spinning top...
To what do you attribute your period of "doing so well?" Have you been on any Meniere's therapy, or was it just a period of unprompted spontaneous remission? If you were on some therapy, particulary antiherpetic agents, such as acyclovir or lysine, there is a good chance the root-cause virus regained activity, either because dosages were too low, or because --- as often happens --- the virus takes on a period of increased activity while being attacked by the drugs or lysine. If this is the case, persist; as many have noticed this, and then discovered that the virus finally becomes adequately suppressed, having "burned out" in a final response to the drugs or lysine. --John of Ohio
weather... as for meds I am not on any accept for motion sick ones. Long story short I can't afford physical theropy and my ENT won't see me until I do it.
geez girl give yourself a chance get a doctor to prescribe a/v's for you or get on john's regime both are very inexpensive you have nothing to lose I feel your pain; may you be blessed with better days
I have a 4800 deductable 6 kids and a house that is 148 years old.... grin and bare it is my name for now. I don't think I can handle another ENT at this point.
There might be other avenues you could try. As far as vestibular therapy is concerned, you can do that on your own. To an extent you are doing that every day in your daily chores. But you can google and learn other exercises that have to do with the eyes etc. I know your ent may not accept that. I dont understand his attitude frankly. I have never heard that from a doctor. The things that were involved for me were allergies and virus. If you have not already tried that approach you might get somewhere on your own with it. You may be able to observe what might be involved allergy wise. It is hard but over time you may notice something. As for the viral approach, if your family dr will give you antivirals you might try them. If not, a number of people report success with the antiviral components of joh regimen.
I have already retrained my self to things like, cook, drive and consistently look for tricks that work to help me through the day. I have an allergy list that reads like a text books so that is probably what mine is from. I go to the gym three days a week this morning it was a struggle but I am happy I did it. I couldn't do as much as I wanted to and heaven forbid I have to think... I kept dropping things pausing in the middle of sentences and loosing my thoughts... *Sigh* oh well... nature of the beast.
Hi Karen, i'm sorry you are going through this. I have been on valacyclovir for four weeks. My aural fullness cleared and I did have some bouts with vertigo. I was doing great last week until Friday when I was working out at the gym. I was on an aerobic exercise machine and about 15 minutes into the exercise I felt the fullness come back into my ear. It wasn't bad. I could still hear my fingers rubbing outside my ear. Then a low pressure system moved into the area on Sat. and it's still here today. When I woke up this morning I had complete aural fullness and very distorted hearing and loud tinnitus. I cannot hear much at all out of my left ear. I tried to reach my Dr and get a refill on the valacyclovir as I believe it was really helping. Forget your ent, go to a general practitioner or health department with Dr Gacek's protocol in your hand. Or, call all Doctors in your area until you find one that is sympathetic to your case.
Yikes, Karen. That sounds really tough. I am also amazed that you can type while spinning. I really get it about being emotionally and financially exhausted, but know that when the A/Vs work it is so transforming. I could barely work. I couldn't count on feeling well/stable. Now I have scheduled speaking events and done them. I have so much more energy, comfort, plus I can hear better. I had lots of tricks, too, but I don't need them. Sometimes I forget to take the pills because I feel so well. I could hardly imagine this anymore a couple months ago. I get that in a way this isn't what you want to hear, but in another way maybe it is, so felt like I wanted to pipe in. Also, I wonder if you have looked into Health Care via the Affordable Care Act. That made a big different for our family. With 6 kids it seems like you'd have some good options. Good wishes whatever you do!
I can type with my eyes closed... . My husbands work is who we have health care through and they stink. He works for a health care company too. I am up early, I got up to use the bathroom and when I laid back down a I felt like I was floating. When I closed my eyes the world spun. So I am up.
My wife's employer pays only a portion of a single (employee) nothing for family. But, that is enough for the rest of the family to not qualify for AHC So, we pay about 13,000 per year. Plus all the co-pays. If the Republicans had voted to improve the ACH instead of getting rid of it we would all be better off.
We will all do better when the republicans get out of office. The medical insurance in this country is absurd. Ray says no politics so I'll stop there. I hope everyone feels better for this first holiday of the season.
Um the democrats are in office and obamacare sux donkey balls, deductibles are through the roof and my premium went up almost 100 dollars starting January..I'll stop now too.
ok, we can agree to disagree with politics. But, I agree we are all in this battle together and we must stick together to help ourselves and others beat this virus. I just got good news!! I took my updated list of Dr Gaceks protocol to him this morning. I dropped it off and they just called and said they are writing me a new prescription to meet the demands of the protocol. Go Bernie!!
So glad to hear that, Santa! And speaking of hearing things, I heard my alarm go off with my good ear on my pillow this morning (something I couldn't hear at all before). It wasn't even a "maybe I hear that." It was softer than it is with the other ear, but it woke me up, and that was a very happy start to the day.
Definately the hearing has shifted after being on AV's for 7 weeks at full dose. Still relectant to lower doseā¦posted in another thread about this.. Obamacare got me 100% coverage so I was able to go all the way with my MM diagnosis. Before that, I paid for everything and couldn't afford to go that route. Our health care system is ridiculous regardless.
To jump on the bandwagon though...nothing is free or better with regards to medical care. Right now the health care companies are making record profits...why? Because they had ample time to prepare for the new system and as a result having been raising prices for coverage over the past two years by 30%/year. So if you raise all of them (including what an employer would cover) by 30% and then later are told that you have to "discount" these plans...even the discount is higher than it was initially. Crazy. But it is not just the law makers, it is the industry itself. $1000 for a MRI or more....I get that there is a cost to the machine and the medical professional's time but seriously - they don't buy new machines every 4 months. And with insurance they "accept" the discount rate of say $800 but that just means that everyone is being overcharged always AND those without insurance are impacted twice over. Unfortunately, to me, this is not a "party" issue more so that both parties are controlled by the pharmaceutical companies and health care companies. (Wherever the money flows into campaigns from.) And a good portion of what is in the ACA is stuff promised to certain states that was written in only to get their vote. Again...crazy! BUT...I remain thankful for everything that I have. So many have it worse; so many don't have what I have. That is what I stay focused on every day (even the bad ones!).
