You look beautiful! If the rogain helps, let me know please, I have a few spaces on my back that need to be filled in. My mother-in-law just lost almost all her hair and her wigs look pretty good. I'm not as worried about the top of my head as I am my beard. I just hope it doesn't mess with my Santa lmage http://santaclaustallahassee.com/Santa_s_Photo_Gallery.php Good Health to you Vicki, I know you have been going through some rough times. Just know, You have a lot of friends on here that love you.
Thanks Santa and great pictures! I will definitely let you know if Rogaine works. I had an idea, all along (over a year) for my maintenance dose I was taking 400 mg 2 times a day and didn't notice any hair loss, but then about 5-6 months ago I started taking 800 mg once a day. Maybe if I go back to 400 mg 2 times a day (1 in Am one in PM) the hair loss will stop and hopefully reverse itself. I am going to try that and see.
I feel for you Vicki. I've had problems with hair loss over the years from different meds I've taken too and it's worrisome to say the least. My hair is a lot thinner now than it used to be. I blame it on meds, my age (52) and sometimes feeling too sick to be able to eat. I hope going back to two dosages per day instead of one dosage will help. I've got my fingers crossed for you! And I agree with Santa....you look beautiful in both of your photos. I sure never would have pegged you for being 62!
Acyclovir needsto be spread evenly throughout the day to be effective unlike valtrex or famvir. Maybe you will need less by taking it in two doses as well.
not on a maintenance dose the maintenance dose is just to keep the suppressed virus suppressed. which is 800 mg taken anyway you prefer. I have always taken it once in am once in pm and worked fine, not sure why I switched to 2, 400mg in am. Only when the virus is active you need to spread it throughout the day evenly.
thanks so much Lulu you are too kind! I hope taking 400 mg at a time helps because by the time I take the second 400 mg the first will be out of my system for hours since it only lasts 6 hrs, Im hoping that will be enough to stop the side effect. (if that is what is causing my hair loss) I felt my bangs were thinning but when I compared the 2 pics I was shocked by how much
LOL. I didn't pay attention of "what" was under your hair until you pointed it out! I also am somewhat fanatic about my hair - and in particular my bangs. My mother liked her hair as short as possible. My oldest niece (she is now 31) has beautiful hair but has a huge selection of wigs which she likes because she can change her style (color/cut) daily. Interesting always how one thing is very important to some (like my bangs to me!) and others could care less. Hope the Rogain helps combined with switching back to 2x day dose vs one only. Good luck!
Just did a search and internet (numerous sites) show that hair loss is also a sign of autoimmune disease...which Meniere's is part of.
Thanks nicmger the only thing is I have Meniere's for almost 50 years I would think if it was due to MM it would have happened before now. The only 2 things I am doing different is acyclovir and getting older lol I think its one of the 2.
I got the Rogaine today. I will probably try it over the weekend. If any female is going to try it, my doctor told me to get the 5% even though it says for men only. He feels and other sdo as well the 5% works better. I double checked that with my cousin who is a PA and she agreed 5% for women too.
