I hope to find a part-time job doing something I really like to do. Got laid off from my job last March. Then my mom got sick and was under hospice care before she passed way. Unemployment benefits ran out a couple of months ago. Now that the holidays are over, it's time to start looking again. We haven't taken a vacation for a few years and I'm hoping to get away to Colorado this summer. I really need it.
Oh Cheryl so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I hope you find a part time job too! I know what you mean about needing a vacation we haven't taken on in over 10 years I am sooo over due. Good Luck!
Thank you, Vicki. It's been a rough year, but I did get that grandchild in July, so that was and continues to be a bright spot. In my perfect dream, I'd like for my husband and I, my son and his family and my daughter and her fiancé, along with his five year old twin boys, to rent a condo in the mountains for a few days. We'd run around seeing and doing things all day and spend the evenings sitting around a campfire, just enjoying being together. Everyone is game to do it. We just have to find a time when everyone can away at the same time. But that drive across Nebraska, ugh! Where would you like to go if you get the opportunity?
If I lived only three hours from the mountains, I'd be there every chance I got. Maybe I would eventually tire of it, but I doubt that I would. The homecoming sounds like fun, and something to look forward to. We're looking forward to seeing The Lion King in April. We saw it once before, but this time we're taking the little boys. We hope they enjoy it as much as we want them to. We haven't told them they're going yet because for little boys, from now until April will seem like years.
Cheryl I'm so sorry about the passing of your Mom. You have my heartfelt sympathy. Best of luck to you finding a job that you'll love and look forward to going to every day. I've got my fingers crossed for you! The vacation to Colorado sounds wonderful. I so hope that you and your family get to go. I've only been to CO in the Winter to go skiing and it's beautiful then. I can just imagine it must be even more beautiful in the Summer. I'd love to take a vacation this year too. I haven't been anywhere since I took a trip to Florida in 1999. Spent a week in Madeira Beach. It was wonderful.....I wouldn't mind going back there again.
I heard of a couple clerical jobs that will opening up this month. Just waiting for the ads/job postings. One is at the local HUD office and will be three days a week. Just what I'm looking for. My last job was at a medical clinic/hospital in medical records as a release of information specialist. I really did like that job and had it for six years, but when they converted to electronic records, there wasn't enough work for everyone. With electronic records, the two transcriptionists were out of a job and since they had seniority, I got let go and they took over my job. Before that, I worked for Maytag in customer service for a few years. I was in a call center and made service call appointments for the lonely Maytag repairman. Ha! Basically, I got paid to be cursed at and called names all day. Talk about stressful! That was back when I could hear better, but I would never do that again. Ever. Something will turn up. If it doesn't, I'm okay with that. I have lots of hobbies to keep me busy, but I had hopes of working two or three more years.
Thank you, Bella. Yes, we all need vacations and this year it's going to happen even if I have to go by myself.
