Thank you to those who have been p ming and emailing me. I have a bad case of the flu and a mjor sinus infection yet again. Fever for 5 days now. First antibiotic wreck havoc with my stomach, second one caused a serious heart side effect. Doc came to my house to make sure my heart was okay and he said it is, the episode passed.

so waiting on the 3rd antibiotic script to be filled. I am weak, achey all over but wanted to let you know I am alive, easier to let you all know in one post than separate emails or pms.

your concern for me is very touching, thank you

I am glad you got the ok on the heart but ne sure to get fluids etc and keep the dr informed if you are not making the recovery you should.

Thanks for letting us know too.

No June, it would seem like it tho but my husband got real sick and I caught this one from him. We are both in bad shape atm. I'll be honest, I am quite depressed, which is unusual for me, I am so sick of being sick, it has gotten to me this time.

Oh, sorry to hear that. Sounds miserable. I know when I am in the middle of being sick sometimes it seems like it will never end, and I get depressed. It helps me to remind myself that it will end, so I am passing that on in case it helps you. It will end! You will feel better again!

    Sending good healing wishes.

thanks Bythe Bay, that's a good point. I am feeling better the new antibiotic I took tonight is bringing the fever back down a bit, so I am hoping it'll continue to work for me with no side effects.

I just today emailed with a friend on the east coast who has been very sick with flu, and her husband as well. They were sick at the holidays and just now getting better. It must seem overwhelming now when you are so weak and sick but try to stay positive and focused on the proper self care. It will be so worth it when you are well again.

I know it's uncomfortable but whenever my kids were running a fever I would put them in a cool to cold bath, usually brought the temp down right away. With the antibiotics and something for temps like Tylenol , that should also help.

Lots of chicken broth and tea!

I have empathy for what you have been going through. :p

I thought the acyclovir would keep you from getting the flu. At least that is what I am counting on for me.

I think JOH is right about the Vitamin D3. My wife has been taking 6,ooo iu's for years and she never gets the flu. She is a school teacher and every year all her students get the flu but she does not. And, she doesn't get a flu shot.

    I started about a month ago taking 6,000 iu's of vitamin D3

I wish you good health and happiness.

No, acyclovir and the other antiherpetic drugs effective against the herpes viruses that cause Meniere's will have no suppressing effects against either flu or cold viruses. They are entirely unaffected by these antiherpetic drugs.

Go with the vitamin D-3. Nothing (especially the weak and inffective flu shots) has proven more effective in preventing influenza cases than vitamin D.

But, remember, it can take some time, several weeks or so, for serum vitamin D levels to rise to a flu-suppressing level. It's best to just take the stuff year-round. (And women who do this have drastically-reduced rates of breast cancer, too.)
