Toronto is the world's best city to live in, according to research looking at a range of factors including safety, cost of living and liveability.
According to analysis carried out by the Economist Intelligence Unit of 36 major cities, Canada's economic powerhouse finished top.
While it wasn't named first in any of the specific rankings, a strong performance overall placed Toronto top. It came eighth in the safety index and fourth in terms of liveability.

Tokyo is named the safest city in the world. Even though it is home to 30 million people and is one of the biggest cities in the world, the Japanese capital sees very little crime and violence.

With a traditionally well-ordered, hierarchical society, Japan has one of the lowest murder rates in the world, with the use of drugs particularly low. Another Japanese city, Osaka, was ranked third safest city in the world.

Toronto was only placed outside of the top ten in one category: cost of living. Unsurprisingly, London scored poorly in this too, coming around halfway down, alongside South Korea’s capital, Seoul.
Melbourne came top in the liveability ranking, and Hong Kong was one of five to score highest in Food Security.

I've been to Toronto and it is a very nice city, but NYC is the safest big city in the USA according to the fbi.

    There is nothing like NY!

i like small coastal cities now that i am older and have kids. I would like to go see St. Augustine one day.

I really liked Charleston, S.C. that was a neat city.

I am going to check it out later this summer when I go down and visit my friend who just moved to Jacksonville, Fla. He said that whole area in northern Florida is beautiful.

Not many people realize it but Toronto is the most diverse city on the world.

To me the Vancouver area was stunning, just beautiful.

In 1967 I remember visiting the World's Fair in Montreal.I also visited the lovely City of Quebec where the cathedral Saint-Anne-de-Beaupre welcomes the faithful.

Having been born in NYC,namely the Bronx,I never liked the city or for that matter any city life.I like to see vegetation, not office building's or apartment buildings on practically every block.

My opinion is that NYC is the best!

You can find anything there for entertainment, especially for the family. There's nothing like the cultural aspects there. Central Park is amazing.

Something for everyone is one of the busiest hubs in the world.

I remember the humidity is very high in the East Coast whereas in S.F.or L.A.or S.D.humidity is comfortably low.

I would love to go see San Diego!

I like small coastal towns. The older I get the more I want small and slower preferably by the water/beach.
