I am wonderinng how many of you see an ENT for treatment and how many see a Neuro-Otologist for treatment? It is really hard to find a good doctor. Thanks,
My physician sent me to an ENT Dr., who then sent me to a neurotologist when the ENT Dr. reached the end of his knowledge of treating Menieres. The neurotologist did a perfusion, injecting a steroid after making a slight incision into the ear canal. That didn't stop the vertigo or vomiting, so he did a second perfusion using a steroid. When that didn't help the problem, he did a third perfusion using an antibiotic, gentamycin. After a couple of weeks the vertigo and the vomiting stopped and haven't occurred since. I do have the brain fog, lack of balance, hearing loss, severe in one ear, and wear hearing aids. Some days I spend time in my recliner, but all in all, I have some of my life back without the vertigo and vomiting and spending hours on my back in bed with my eyes closed until the vertigo abated (nasty stuff).
I go to my GP. My ENT was worthless. ENT= You got Meneires-take these steroids for ten days and stay on diuretic and cut out salt.
At Kaiser, I circle around a PCP/GP and and ENT and Neurologist. It seems that each one is the right one to prescribe this or that drug but no one takes full responsibility for the entire spectrum. They are all guessing :
Thanks for the responses. It is hard to find a good doctor period. I was curious about where people are getting the most relief. I hat the dizziness and vertigo like everyone does. I live in New York on Long Island and there are no Neuro-Otologists. Actually there is one, but yu have to go to the city for the first few visits. Thanks again,

I know he is about 4 hrs away, but you could consider going to Dr Gacek in MA. Gosh knows he is fully versed on this darn disease.
