I have so many questions... What's your experience during drop attacks, do you have ringing in both ears, in the bad one, or in the good one? I am puzzled, it seems that my right ear is bad, I have tinnitus all the time in it, but during the drop attack my left ("good") ear rings loudly while my right ("bad") ear rings just as usually. And I fall to the right. Thank you
For me drop attacks come out of no where, therefore I don't know if my ear is ringing at the time or not. Hope this helps.
Thank God I have "only" experienced two drop attacks. But with both I had no warning - one minute I was up, the next minute down. I don't recall hearing any extra ringing or even spinning. Just drop. However, prior to a full vertigo attack, there have been instances where the ringing gets exceptionally loud seconds before the room starts spinning. My left ear is the bad one; when I have dropped, I go to the right. But I do not believe that there are any "symptoms" of a drop attack other than the drop itself.
Thank you guys, and apologize since it seems I messed up with the terminology... Drop attack, so it means you simply fall at once? I thought the term was used for any episode of vertigo/disequilibrium accompanied by nausea and vomiting :-( May I reformulate my question and ask do you have increased level (or appearance) of tinnitus during vertigo/disequilibrium attacks? If so, does it happen in bad or good ear? Thank you
The ear pressure, prior to a vertigo attack, would increase along with outrageous tinnitus. I always new an attack would follow after the increase. Believe it or not, I would welcome an attack at that point just to be rid of the pressure and the ringing. This only happened in my bad ear. My good ear only has very mild tinnitus.
Thank you redwing1951, Do I understand well that once the attack starts your pressure and tinnitus in the bad ear diminishes?
Yes for me once I had a vertigo attack the pressure and ringing would calm down until the next episode. This could be weeks sometimes months of relief.
Prior to almost every attack of vertigo that i have had, the pressure in my ear increases significantly (can be days/weeks prior), ringing increases, hearing gets worse. Now for me, all 3 of those can take place and I won't have a vertigo attack; but with rare exception, I have not had a vertigo attack without those 3 things prior. And you are correct, a drop attack is completely different.
