VikingMan, yes I have been seeing an Upper Cervical Chiropractor for over a year. I sometimes get relief for awhile but it never lasts very long. I have the tinnitus and ear fullness along with vertigo but so far my hearing has remained normal which seems to confuse some Dr's.

Sharon have you looked into MAV? Migraine associated vertigo? A headache is not required to have MAV.
Your attacks sound like MAV attacks which are very similar to MM and many of us have both MM and MAV and sometimes MAV is misdiagnosed as MM.
MAV is treated differently than MM. I have MM and MAV. I control my MM symptoms with acyclovir and MAV symptoms with food trigger avoidance.
We have a great thread in the database about MAV, my suggestion is to read the post and see if it is anything you can relate too.

Another thought is when you get your short vertigo attacks is it positional? meaning when you turn your head in a certain direction and then it stop when you move your head out of that position?

If you are set on continuing chiropractic care, it might be worth while finding an upper cervical chiro who uses a different technique than the one you are seeing now. There are 5-10 different approaches/techniques they can use(Blair, toggle recoil, orthospinology and a few others). One of the things I've read is that some approaches will work better for some people than for others. I'd be especially interested to try that given that you experience some relief from chiropractic. That clearly says that alignment problems are a part of the equation, at least to me.

    Hi Sharon,

I highly recommend the valacyclovir over acyclovir.

I have been trying to cut back on my valacyclovir dose. So, two weeks ago I went to 1,000 mg ( 1 g) twice per day. I was still doing fine. The other day I decided to just take it once per day. The next morning I woke up with a bit of aural fullness. I could still hear out of my ear but there was some fullness. I took my morning dose and within an hour I was clear again.

I am sticking with twice per day.

I am also still taking the OPC, which I think is making my tinnitus a little worse. However; a lot of people believe in the theory that supplements and homeopathy makes things get worse before they get better.
