I'm very happy you are feeling so good Santa, but how do you know its not the av kicking it and it finally suppressed the virus? By no means am I suggesting you stop taking the OPC. But you cant know for sure what's causing the symptom relief or it could be a combo of the two
I agree Vicki, I don't know which supplement is doing the job for me. It could be a combo. I've been on the AV's and Joh's regimen for six months and many have said six months is the magic number. However there are many folks on here that have been on this same regimen for a lot longer and are not getting the results that I have gotten the last three weeks. One way to find out is by someone else trying OPC. Anyone?
Thanks Santa! So happy ho ho ho for you! Whew as I sit here and blow my nose all day after two days of a scratchy throat preceded by 10 days of already bad MM symptoms, I am fit to be tied. I wonder how much of my distress is from these cold symptoms and how much is a down cycle. Boy the cost of all these supplements is scary especially being out of work with this for 4 years. Let me sit on being your guinea pig….but I'll likley try it.
I am now in Sebring Florida for five days of sports car racing and live bands. I do wear my ear plugs when close to the track or bands. My condition is the same!!! I feel wonderful!!! No aural fullness!!! No brain fog!!! No vertigo!!! I am consuming alcohol and caffeine. Neither are doing anything counter intuitive for my affected ear. It's over 90 degrees here, dusty, noisy, and my ear is doing great! This OPC is also helping the circulation in my legs. I have factor five Leiden, which causes my blood to coagulate too fast and I have a history of blood clots. Most are superficial, some have been deep vein thrombosis. I have some veins in my legs that have gone vericose and bulge out of my leg and even they are going down in size. My legs look the best they have looked in years. My ear is the best it's been in a long long time. I still can't claim that it is the OPC but I am eliminating slowly some of the other supplements I have been taking. I haven't taken lysine or vinpocetine in about two weeks. I actually think the vinpocetine was causing some mild headache symptoms. But, they are gone now.
Hi Holly, I'm really thinking it is a combination of valacyclovir and OPC. I was trying to drop down to just 1g per day and the next morning I had a little aural fullness. I took a valacyclovir and the OPC and within an hour my hearing was good again Still no vertigo since feb 23 I hope u have same results as I am having
Santa, I have not tried this but I wonder if you could try going from 2/day to 1 1/2? Maybe tapering a little slower? Also, not sure if it does the same for you, but weather definitely plays a role for me. The last few days I have had a bit of fluctuating fullness - nothing like it used to be but still that "reminder".
Thanks Santa! I changed from valacyclovir to famvir under Dr Derebery's recommendation and added the betahistine too. Worst my ear has been in months. The tinnitus and hearing loss is alarming. My OPC is on the WAY and I think it's time to take your lead and go back to valacyclovir. Are you doing any of the JOH regimen still?
Well, I ended up starting the OPC on Friday. At this point I have had zero improvement. Obviously I am going to keep taking it and give it more time, plus it was expensive so I would hate to see it just sit there. Sometimes its hard to stay optimistic. But if I didn't try it I would always wonder.
hi: Nic--I'm a little scared to drop the valacyclovir from less than 2 grams per day. Maybe dropping from two to one was too drastic. But, I don't want to mess up a good thing. Right now I am very happy with the way things are going for me. Weather used to affect me. Not anymore. I've been through lots of high pressure/low pressure systems and no changes. Holly--I am only taking the Lindberg Lemon Bioflavinoids from JOH's regimen. Redbird----I forget if you are taking valacyclovir or not. I think the combination of OPC and valacyclovir is what is helping me the most. How's the baby and you handling the breast feeding issue? The OPC is also good for so many things. My blood circulation has improved so much since taking it.
I am not on antivirals at the moment. I was on Acyclovir for a month and a half with no improvement but stopped the medication when I found out I was pregnant. I have not been able to get a prescription since. My Oto won't prescribe it, I had to go to my GP who humored me the first time but won't again. Sigh. Plus, I have read that it is not good if you have kidney troubles. I don't have kidney trouble myself but my grandma died in her 30's from kidney disease, her sister died from kidney disease in her 60's and now my 54 year old aunt is getting ready to start kidney dialysis. So yeah, that terrifies me.
Some have also gone the high dose vitamin c route to achieve the same anti-viral effect. Any significant amount upsets my stomach terribly at the moment, or I'd be choking down > 20G a day right now.
I was on acyclovir for about 5 months. I did have not good results. In the first week I had a few good days, but I think the virus is strong enough, at least in my case, to beat acyclovir. The aural fullness/brain fog/dizzies and vertigo made me feel like I would try anything to get my life back. I want everyone to know-------I think JOH's Regimen is good and it has worked for many people. Everything in his Regimen is good for you. It can only make you healthier. I also think that valacyclovir and OPC are the Bomb!!! The bomb that beats the virus into submission.
Santa, I know you said that it took a few days before you felt better... but did you feel worse the first few days of taking the OPC? I have felt worse ever since I started taking it. I was so miserable this weekend I decided not to take it yesterday. I woke up today feeling better, not great, but back to how I felt before the OPC. Could be a coincidence, maybe not though.
I just took my first OPC about an hour ago…hope RedBird11 this stuff turns things around for you. The hardest thing sometimes is to draw cause and effect at any point in time since there are so many factors that can effect out sense of illness or well-being.
I think I will order this too. I see it helps lower LDL cholesterol as well. Anyone taking this with high choleterol? Does it it help? It would be nice if I can eliminate having to take Simvasatin everyday.
