Do any of you take a medication to stop or lessen severe vertigo? If so, which are effective for you? Since Oct 2013 I've had about 4-6 severe vertigo episodes with vomiting that lasts anywhere from 2-6 hours. I bet many of you know what that is like. I have Zofran for vomiting, but I haven't tried Dramamine for the vertigo. I tried Maxalt, a med for MAV, to abort a migraine, but it did nothing either for the vertigo or migraine.
    Thanks

You might try Meclizine. Although I am told regular over the counter meds for dizziness work as well.

While this doesn't treat the vertigo, I have found that Gravol is one of the best things for me to take. It's the only thing that let's me relax and go to sleep.
Typically a few hours after taking Gravol and then being able to nap, my vertigo passes.

The first ENT told me that I could take as much Gravol as I wanted as it's not addictive.... however this is obviously not a long-term treatment, but it worked for me.

    Good luck!

hello, I am on amtripiline 40mg that I take at bedtime. verapamil 2xs a day, I have a script for valium that is to be taken at the onset of an attack and also vomiting meds to help with the vomiting but am not able to take the valium in time because I would throw it up before it hit my blood system same for the zofram. I have been battling meniers for 10 yrs now.

Restorative55 verapamil and amitriptyline are both used for MAV not usually Meniere's.
