Since MM I've made do with OTC reading glasses because progressive lens starts my surroundings moving & tilting. I could never adjust to them. I really need something to wear all the time for distance & reading but from past experience I'm not feeling positive about it. Anyone wear glasses & would share their experience? Thanks.

I started wearing progressives about two years ago and it took me a while to get used to them. This was actually my second time trying them as I had tried a couple of years before that and hated them. For me, I basically had to go through two different adjustment periods. First, you need to get in the habit of looking at things differently, glancing down to read and looking straight ahead for everything else. Second, your brain needs time to adjust to the way it is now seeing things.

For me, I would say it took at least three weeks for me to get used to them and get to the point where I didn't really notice I was wearing them. The biggest hurdle for me was the narrow field of vision. Just glancing slightly to the left or right would result in things getting noticeably out of focus. At some point though things just clicked and I stopped being constantly aware of the change in vision with each movement of my eyes.

Thanks for reply. I sounds like it was a challenge but you did it. I probably didn't give myself enough time to adjust.

I wear multi focal contact lenses. My eye doctor said that people with menieres disease have to use their eyes for balance more than normal so the contacts gives you more of a natural feel which is easier on your brain. His patients with menieres feel better wearing contacts versus glasses. It took me a couple weeks to get used to contacts but now I have no problem. Good Luck

Thanks hurricaneone, I have tried contacts before but because of dry eyes I was miserable. I was constantly lubricating my eyes. The most comfortable lens for me were the trifocals but now that frames are smaller it's hard to fit all that in.
