I know we have topics on this before, but when I went to post on it I received a message it was over 120 days old to post a new one.

As I said in the last one, I have a hard time swallowing pills and as it turns out, the only chewable Lycine tablets are for cats. LOL.

I cannot swallow the 500 MG never mind the 1000 MG. So I am considering crushing them. Does anyone know if that will inhibit the Lycine's effectiveness?

    Happy Easter and Passover,

I do not know for sure but you can call your local pharmacist and ask, they would be the ones who might know.
    Happy Holidays!

Chewing or disolving lysine does not change in an way its chemical composition. It might taste bad, but it will be the same, whether in a capsule or floating in water.

Another question about Lysine. I have seen on here that taking Lycine doesn't have side effects. I just read it can cause kidney failure. Has anyone heard of this?

Yes, in grossly-overdosed lab rats; far more than anyone would consume. Not a concern, as evidenced by the tens of thousands who take lysine chronically to suppress cold and genital sores.

Just a question; Isn't 2000 or 3000 mg high dose? I have been taking 2000 mg since for a month. My results were different than some I have read. I got immediate relief, now a month later not so much. I know many have said it can take months, so I am wondering what's going on.

4000 to 5000 mg is "high dose."

1500 to 2000 mg have not proven as effective against Meniere's as the current 3000 mg recommendation in my regimen.

JOH, I'm currently taking 1600 mg of Acyclovir and 2000 lycine. Still dizzy after two weeks. Do you think 3000 is safe while taking high doses of Acyclovir?

Thanks rr, I sure wish I could take Valacyclovir. I tried it for 10 days about six months ago and it really messed my stomach up. Had to go back on Acyclovir which helps but only in high doses and not enough to keep my head straight. So I'm trying the combination but not sure how high of a dose I should take of the lycine when I'm doing the high dose of Acyclovir. It's been weeks since I've had a "good" day.

The dosage of acyclovir (or any other antiherpetic) has no influence on any presumed high-dose toxicity of lysine. Lysine and acyclovir simply do not react or affect each other in any way. Apples and oranges, biochemically.

So, yes, I'm certain that 3000 mg of lysine is safe, whether in conjunction with any prescribed dosage of acyclovir or not. Many with herpes skin lesions take 3000 mg without complications.

Look around. See if you can find any reports of adverse outcomes from anyone who has actually taken 3000 mg of lysine. I've not seen such a report.
