Does anyone have shoulder issues on their MD side? Specifically a clicking or popping sound when they rotate their arm/ shoulder.

Actually, yes. I do have problems with my left side shoulder. About 6 months before the cochlear hydrops started I ended up getting a cortisone shot in my left shoulder because the pain would be so bad after every work day. I don't have much pain anymore but it does pop a lot.

Do you have vertigo or just hearing loss?

I am lucky enough to not have vertigo. I have hearing loss, tinnitus and fullness.

RedBird11, you and I are almost complementary, as I do not have hearing loss and fullness, but have vertigo and tinnitus :)

I have exactly this. A popping sound when I rotate my left shoulder. And at times excruciating pain near the shoulder blade.

Any link to MM you believe?

For the inner ear to retain Endolymph something has to inflame it. Maye allergies, maybe a virus, maybe the condyle of the jaw rubbing against the inner ear everytime we move our jaw. If you run your hand along your shoulder, up your neck to your jaw you'll feel a lot of connective tissue connecting shoulder and jaw. I wonder if Back/shoulder problems could cause jaw issues and in turn ear inflammation. Weird stuff.

Interesting... Do you have cochlear hydrops too? I have low frequency hearing loss.

Yes I have CH. Some interesting stuff on line about relief through TMJD treatment and upper cervical or NUCCa care

I only have muscle spasms above my shoulder blades/lower neck area. Before I went bilateral it was only my left side. Now it's both.

Dr gave me Valium, don't take that anymore. A nice massage and some Aleve is all I need.

I tried massage therapy as well. Had Better longer lasting results from NUCCA. Cost is about the same, not counting initial x ray and weekly adjustments early on. I now go once every couple months or so.

I do have shoulder issues on my mm side. The shoulder issue came from a vigorous elliptical session about 8 or 9 years ago. I also have some jaw/neck issues. I'm seeing a craniosacral therapist and she has been working on making my neck less tight. She mentioned something about my C1 and my atlas being out of whack. She said that could be causing my tinnitus. We'll see...

I don't know too much about C1 and atlas stuff. I tend to think misalignment of the shoulders or neck can cause jaw issues, and with the jaws proximity to the ear, inflammation can happen. But I had good luck with UCC so I'm willing to buy into C1 and atlas stuff.

We hold alot of tension in our bodies particularly in the neck and back. Having menieres or the fear of an attack, vomiting , vertigo or drop attack will certainly make us tense. I try hard not to connect other conditions or aches to menieres.

I have neck, shoulder, back and hip problems and arthritis ( i rattle when I walk ) in fact I have suffered with 2 idiopathic conditions, the menieres which thankfully has dissipated either through burnout or because I treated it as MAV and D.I.S.H. Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis which is a candling of the bones or bone spurs. Are the two conditions connected, I don't know.

One associated menieres problem that many of us have is that when we suffer from menieres we tend to associate other health issues with the menieres. I have done it many times. Everybody deals with this differently some people like me will over think about things or medical conditions and others will just accept whatever and not think about it at all.

Another point about tension and our tendency to hold tension in our neck and back. In desperation I tried NUCCA in London in 2007 for the menieres and it did nothing for me but to be honest I didn't give it a fair go mainly because of the cost. I spent about £800 for the two sessions I had, which were feather light touches on my neck from the NUCCA lady.

But whilst in the waiting room waiting for the 2nd treatment I read an interesting article about the Alexander Technique and a book about it called Perfect Poise Perfect Life by Noel Kingsley. The book is about teaching ourselves how to relax and all the health and life benefits of doing so. The author had a suite and clinic in the same building, I bought the book there and then and got so much more from it than the NUCCA. The book cost me £10. Being able to relax has helped me alot.

What came first, your ear issues or your, back, neck and hip issues?

Very true. I tend to do this a lot. I am constantly associating other problems with my cochlear hydrops. I think I am clinging to the idea that I will find out that my CH was really just caused by another one of my problems and can be easily fixed. It is hard to not overthink.

In my case, the shoulder issue was before the ear issue.

Here is the order of my problems:
-left side TMJ started when I was in elementary school. Sometime in the 90's, I don't remember an exact time.
-left side Bell's Palsy December 2005
-left side Bell's Palsy July 2009
-left shoulder pain, pretty severe, ending up with a cortisone shot mid 2012
-left side Cochlear Hydrops started February 2013

So here I am, overanalyzing and thinking this may all be related. It may be. Maybe not. I honestly can not think of one issue I have had on my ride side. Coincidence? Or does it mean something? Sigh.

I was never diagnosed with TMJ or Bell's palsy but did have a droopy eye lid on my CH side, right side. My right leg was slightly sohorter than the other so I got orthotics. The hearing loss was the last straw that drove me to UPper cervical care. Looking back in school I always wore my back pack on my right shoulder maybe that's what started my issues. I'm just glad for the improvement. I hope you find similar relief.

My back issues were first as D.I.S.H. is a slow progression probably, from many years ago.

Not long before the menieres first started I had a minor road accident which did jolt my head and neck. I remember my cheekbones and neck hurting and the impact was only at 20 mph. It made me think at the time how bad it would have been at say 40 or 50 mph.

The menieres could have been brought on by the accident but I think it was more likely because I was low at the time of the menieres onset and stressed to hell. I'd had shingles 10 years prior to that. I believe the shingles or herpes virus was waiting to strike when my defences were down. Only this time it decided to attack my inner ear.
