What's posted here isn't all there is. Everybody has a life story that they don't share. BD, that was for you!
I'm picturing her little face and her little smile and her little hands... I miss those days. Keep me up on those words!! I love it.
That was my favorite time of being a father. Just when they were starting to talk. I also loved video taping their meltdowns. We watch them now together laugh. My favorite is when my son was 2 and I told him no more cookies, well he had a major meltdown and dumped the whole box of c-chip cookies on the floor and started jumping up and down on them and then throwing them at the dog. It will be played at his rehearsal dinner for his wife to see. PS: they can be exhausting but I love kids--- it's the adults in life that cause the problems.
I know many people don't do "Baby Books" for their children and I didn't get one until I had my daughter. I didn't fill out every page and put down every single milestone but I did put in enough for her to view later. What is nice is that I got one with blank pages to write in. One of my pages tells her where to find the box with her name on it. It holds a lot of her art, report cards, annual school pics, even some special pieces of clothing that I know she would recognize, her favs. I've written in the book quite a bit. In the early days I wrote whenever I felt the need. Now I write every year on her birthday and when she's had a major accomplishment. Things like HS Diplomas, Grammer School awards, the certificate when she was awarded Student Of The Month in 8th grade. Just things that later in life she will be surprised that I saved for her. I wish I had had the kind of parent that did something like this for me, but that just makes me a better mother. Go out and get one right away! Even if it's a journal where you can write something that you feel is memorable. When you do it for awhile a re-read it, I guarantee it will bring tears, joyful tears, to your eyes.
Just found out multiple bands playing near the beach. Getting dressed and ready for some fun! ( of course, it will be just my daughter and I )
