My day did not start out well. I woke up and thought that my eye was "tight" - thought that perhaps the eye drops I had put in before I went to sleep had leaked out and crusted up. Ummmmmm No. I went to the bathroom and both of my eyes, left was the worst, almost swollen shut. And underneath each eye so dark and bruised it looked like I was punched.

I did several allergy tests (three different immunologists) a few years ago due to my congestions issues but did not test positive to any allergy.

I have never ever had this happen. I did have claritin in my cupboard; took that and jumped in the shower. Within about 2 hrs I could at least open my eyes full and see. Tonight there is still some residual swelling but nothing like the morning.

Good news is that even with whatever went on, I did not have any vertigo or escalation of issues.

(Can I share that I am kind of afraid to go to sleep...don't want to wake up like that again! LOL)

oh no! do you have an eye infection? maybe see an eye doctor maybe he will have a clue.

But I test negative for all seasonal allergies and I have them badly. Allergy tests are inaccurate, that is part of the problem with them, the other part is even if you test positive it cant tell you how severe they are. someone can get a slight positive result and be anaphylaxis some might get a high positive value and have no symptoms at all.

But they have developed new tests that will be 97% accurate and predict severity, they are in the testing stages now. In fact my wonderful allergist that I see who gives me her amazing allergy formula heads the team who developed these new allergy tests, that's how I know about them :)

Vicki, I don't think an infection. I don't have any signs of infection - just that swelling. All I can say is thankfully it was sunny so I could hide behind sun glasses! ;D

aww sorry you had this happen but wonderful your MM did not act up YAY! If it is allergies, sleep with the windows closed, that might help. Fingers crossed you wake up fine tomorrow.

Thankfully, I woke up and they seem fine. I took another benedryl before I went to sleep to be "safe". I was afraid to look in the mirror! LOL

No idea what caused it - but hopefully won't happen again!

BUT no vertigo or increase in MM symptoms!
