If you have a perforation in one eardrum approximately half the size of the eardrum, and you also have a hole in the other eardrum about the size of a pea, and the Oto removed all wax that was covering these perforations thus sealing said holes,

Would you think that could revive severe Menieres symptoms?

Removing wax will not "seal the hole". The one the size of a pea will heal on it's own, but the other one would need surgery to correct. And yes, fiddling around in the ear can bring about symptoms.

    I'm sorry if I wasn't more clear.

Apparently the wax was covering the perforation and when he took it out I went into a major spin.
The smaller perforation did not heal on its own since its been 6 months since the tube fell out. At that time the tube in the ear with the huge perforation was still in.

I'm seeing my Old Oto next Friday as she specializes in all things Menieres and does the Tympanoplasy that I need in both ears.

I'm looking for validation that this could make my Menieres symptoms assert itself again. I'm not feeling well at all since the wax came out.

    Can't wait til Friday.

I have a tube in one of my ears (so a tiny hole) and my oto cleaned out that ear with suction and it made me spin. So maybe any size hole, when suction is used will make you spin.

Removing the wax sealing your perforation may induce a rapid & momentary pressure change within your ear. This pressure change may apply, mutatis mutandis, when suction is applied to clean the ear. That change, or the subsequent pressure differential between both ears, may send abrupt & conflicting singles to your brain resulting in a "spin" or an episode of vertigo.

I doubt removing the wax would revive server meniere's symptoms, per se. It is possible, however, as you rightly say, that upon doing so you experienced an abrupt pressure change, resulting in a "major spin" (an episode of vertigo?). It may also take a little time for your brain to recalibrate itself in accordance to having the wax removed.

    TY Nathan.

Spinning is vertigo episodes. The right ear is very sensitive. I get mild spins during the day, the busier I am, the worse it gets. By the end of the day I'm experiencing severe vertigo.

I realize the perforation will affect the pressure, but how would that affect the Mneieres?

One ear may be under a different pressure than the other, subsequently sending contradictive information to your brain, resulting in vertigo. Said pressure change in either ear may also influence endolymph - this may explain why many of those suffering meniere's experience an increase in symptom severity during atmospheric pressures change.

    Come on Friday!

Today's the big day. I'm anxious about the drive, 85 miles each way. It's been a long time since I've driven that far in one shot.

I'm anxious to hear about the surgery even though it's a foregone conclusion.

I'm anxious to see my Oto, I adore her, and get answers to all of the questions the Drs who claim they treat Menieres here didn't have the answers to.

    I'm just anxious.
Can't wait to get going but I don't want to leave too early and wait in the office. I do not handle waiting in doctors offices well.

    Wish me luck.
