I am curious if anyone who has taken Prozac found that it helped with their MM symptoms?

I had been in a long, bad stretch with my Cochlear Hydrops with really no breaks. I started to also get tingling in my arms and hands. My doctor tested me for B-12 deficiency, thyroid, Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis and everything came back normal. She thought that the tingling might be caused by my anxiety. I have always been very anxious and I have been struggling with depression some lately as well. So she started me on a very low dose of Prozac about 6 weeks ago. I really don't want to jinx anything by talking about it but my CH symptoms have been much better the past 2 weeks for the first time in a long time. My anxiety also seems to have improved. I know its hard to say for sure but do you think its possible the Prozac is helping with my Cochlear Hydrops? Or maybe I am in just in one of my random improvements.

Redbird - I am sure that anything that helps reduce the anxiety that we get with MM is bound to be of benefit. I have read and know from other sufferers on this form that they get relief from using valium. I have asked my Doctor regularly to prescribe me something that helps reduce the anxiety and he flatly refuses to prescribe any psychotic type drug for me. I do believe that unless you have MM no-one else understands the level of anxiety we go through during an attack or waiting for an attack, which I also believe can bring on an attack.

So well done to your Doctor for prescribing something for you that seems to help you. I hope you continue to get relief from the symptoms.

Prozac probably improves sleep and lowers stress hormones when you are depressed so Im thinking it may have an effect on symptoms. I took it years ago and it works for mood issues but killed my libido and i noticed I didnt care about having no libido , so i knew something was wrong and got off it.

I take Alventa which I believe is called Effexor XR in the USA. I think it stopped "what if, what if, what if..." endless loop in my head. Although it presumably has side effect on libido, I have not noticed it.

    Thanks for the responses, everyone.

Rod, I had asked my neurotologist in the past for anxiety meds and he said that he doesn't prescribe anxiety meds, that was something I had to ask my GP for. I never ended up asking my GP though. But then recently my anxiety got a lot worse and my GP had suggested Prozac to me on her own. I agreed because the anxiety and depression has really been bothering me lately. I have always been a very anxious person, I am prone to panic attacks and have bad social anxiety. I never really considered that it might help with my Cochlear Hydrops. I still don't know yet if the Prozac is helping the CH but all I know is I feel great (again, I hope I don't jinx myself) and the Prozac is the only recent change.

Gardengal, I am not on antivirals. I tried them in 2013 for a month and a half with no improvement. I wanted to try longer but I got pregnant and stopped taking them. Haven't been able to get a dr to prescribe them since.

Really hope I don't jinx myself, but just to update... I still feel great. I really hope I found something that helps and its not just a random remission.
