My OTO recommended not to use salt substitutes. He said what you want to do is get rid of the craving for salt and the taste buds will help with that. Once you stop using the salt shaker you will notice a huge change in how much salt your taste buds will tolerate. You will be able to recognize right off a heavily salted food for example, packaged foods, can foods. Eat fresh when you can. I gave up salt many years ago. My salt intake comes from natural sources. Thanks redwing its funny bc i asked my oto And she said that would be ok but didn't seem Certain thank God for this forum . And yes I have noticed I don't crave salt as much I stick to what I'm doing
If you are on a diuretic to control meniere's then it would be wise to have your potassium blood levels checked. My Potassium levels have tested low many times in the past, I now take a potassium supplement and use a little salt substitute on my foods and my potassium levels returned to normal. So, for some people taking a small amount of salt substitute can be beneficial.
Yes running dizzy I do take a diuretic a potassium Sparing one but after the first week my Potassium was a little low soni have a banana and Potato every day they even , my dr increased The diuretic an so far potassium is good is creatinine something To do with the diuretic as well?
