Ever since my tooth/gum infection and even after my tooth was pulled I haven felt right. Lots of sinus heads, sinus pressure, last week sharp ear pain, my post nasal drip is worse, now a lymph node by my non MM ear is tender and swollen both ears feel pressure and crackly when I swallow. So I went to an urgi care, brand new one just a few blocks from me, gorgeous place doctor was knowledgeable and kind..he asked me a lot of questions and examined me and said I have sinusitis, which is something I am prone too like many of us with MM.

I have a feeling my gum infection altho might have been taken care of by the antibiotics in the gums/tooth, it traveled elsewhere to my sinuses.
Good news is NO VERTIGO..thank you acyclovir! very little dizzy spells, nothing major. Which is not how I used to be before acyclovir and sinusitis, I would get major vertigo attacks and day long dizziness until the infection was cleared.

The interesting fact I learned today was when I went to fill my script for another antibiotic, I told the pharmacists I only want one made in the USA, I told her my experience with valcyclovir how drugged I felt and might be because it was made in India.

She told me that's a reaction from valcyclovir she hears a lot of from her clients. I was quite surprised since most people on the forums haven't gotten this reaction from it.

Tomorrow I have a long nerve filled day while feeling so crappy, blood work at 7:45 am then at 12 PM a call back from the radiology (had a mammo on Friday) to take more views and an ultrasound :(

Take it one day at a time, it's easier to manage, or one appointment at a time. You'll get better soon.

Good luck today Vicki. Keep us posted!

Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in completely and knock the sinus infection out.

So glad to hear you're feeling better Vicki and your tests came out well. I'm home from my holiday visit with the grandkids. Other than a long car trip and crazy traffic backups due to construction everything else went great. I felt well enough to enjoy my time with the kids and the long days in the car didn't bother much. So although I'm not back feeling as well as I had been for the past 3 months I'm happy to be getting around well again.

I had sinusitis. Took antibiotics and probiotics, flonase and used a bulb syringe with a saline solution morning and night-- cleared it up. I still use the flonase every morning and night and I use the bulb syringe and saline on mornings when I feel some congestion.

I take probiotics everyday and I am on antibiotics and I have a prescription saline solution I use from my ENT. I have Flonase but Im afraid to try it, given I get so many reactions from meds.

Vicki, maybe you need a different or stronger antibiotic.
Maybe you need to add Zyrtec or Claritn or an OTC sinus med.
I'm so sorry. You've really had a rough time lately.
I hope you feel better soon!

    Dynamo,
The stuff they make you drink is putrid. I could deal with the whole this were it not for that.
    I wish you good luck.
Last time I had one they removed 7 polyps.
I'm glad I had it done and go annually. So far, so good.
    I'm glad I went.

What antibiotic did they give you? Also, try warm compresses and even get the steam going in the bathroom and sit in there for a bit to try to loosen the crap up.

    thanks Bea.

The Dr wanted me to take levaquin, which I never took, the only antibiotic I have taken that has not given me any reaction..so far is cipro which is a strong antibiotic. Levaquin is the same family of antibiotics as cirpo but he felt it attacks sinus infections better. But its time released and stays in the system 20 hours, I was afraid if I got a reaction the drug would be in me for so long. so he wrote me a script for cipro. I read clinical studies where cipro did well against sinus infections just as good as amoxicillin.

I am allergic so far to:
    any kind of penicillin
    biaxin
doxycycline which I took all my life and last winter got a bad allergy reaction too so scratch that off my list
    Adverse Reactions from:
z-pack made my heart go nuts
clindamycin and Minomycin gives me non stop diarrhea

I have been putting hot wet compresses on my face many times today and a towel over my head while breathing in steam from running hot water.

It is 3 days on cipro. Maybe too soon for my sinuses to drain yet but I think it started an hour ago to drain a little but swellings still there.

Levaquin always gives me a yeast infection!

Sometimes old school works best. A little bit of Vicks under your nose.
