I can't remember how many dental appt's I've cancelled this year because I didn't feel well. Today I have another app't & of course I feel off balance & wobbly, which I realize is never going away since I have bilateral MM. I always feel worse in a strange place & usually hold the wall for balance. I also feel rushed by the younger people & that makes it worse. How do you handle these situations? Thanks.
I have heard impacted wisdom teeth to cause vertigo (that's when the wisdom teeth) are not coming up vertically but horizontally, which puts pressure on some TMJ nerves and causes vertigo. So if you have that by any chance, getting them pulled out would probably fix it.
I have two cavaties that i need to have drilled..... I have cancelled two appts to have this done because I felt so dizzy that day -- the lady at the dentist office was angry with me and told me they need 24 hours notice for cancellations - I told her I wish that I could give her 24 hours notice - i wish that I myself had 24 hours notice of when I am going to feel dizzy, lightheaded, off balanced and fatigued but that the disease unfortuantely doesn't give a 24 hour heads up. I still haven't made the appt to go back. The thought of being tilted upside down and being drilled into the right side of my head which is the ear that bothers me makes me start shaking.... i am at a loss... but obv I can't let these teeth rot out of my head.
I would let them know in advance that you may need more time and/or assistance getting to the chair. Also that it is possible you will need them to stop and/or change the position of the chair. Also, don't let anyone else's pace change yours! Tell 'em they can go around you. LOL If you let the dr team know in advance, they will be prepared as well as you will feel "better" knowing there is a plan.
Well, I got through it. My ear plugs just made the noise louder. I told them when to stop when they were reclining the chair. The hygienist will listen to me, but dentist just puts the chair where he wants & I have to deal with it. Nickyschick, I understand how you feel. If you can have 1 tooth fixed at a time & ask them to let you sit up, take a break, & get eyes focused during the procedure you will feel better than trying to lay flat the whole time. Thanks for all replies.
My dentist and dental technician are very accommodating, knowing that I have Menieres. They allow me to determine just how far to be reclined. And if I need to sit up for a moment, that's okay, too. Maybe you need to be more assertive with your dentist.
