I am not offended and I can see you feel strongly about cannabis and its benefits as you see them, our debate might be useful to some on here or not. In either case I generally feel nothing is all good or all bad including cannabis.
You are illustrating the good and I am showing how it might not be so good.

I would be interested if you ever tried acyclovir w/o cannabis and how your MM symptoms would be.

    Having said all that
here are 31 pages of studies showing thc suppresses the immune system more specifically t cells

    LOL

anyway it's be interesting debating with you and I hope you continue to feel well! HUGS!

I'd be more interested in my symptoms with cannabis and no acyclovir. :D I'd drop it in a heart beat if I thought I could get by without it. But I'm not that brave at the moment. I had an almost attack last night. The chair next to my bed was slowly rotating. Went to sleep and woke up feeling back to my normal slightly off balance self. Scared the hell out of me though, not to mention my wife. I thought my world was imploding again.

did you eat foods higher in arginine than lysine? that might have triggered it. Something happened that caused the av and or cannabis to be less effective.

I had a hamburger and some french fries for dinner, nothing for lunch and a can of sardines for breakfast. Beef is really high in lysine, I don't see how it could have been a problem. I've been trying to reach the 1 pill a day maintenance dose, @10 days ago I dropped to 1.5 pills a day. I'm thinking I need to bump it back up to 2 pills a day.

Talking about marijuana as a single drug is pointless, given there are hundreds of varieties which all act differently on people.

You really think there is that much variability between the various strains? That's an interesting idea. The high from different strains is certainly different. That becomes obvious once you have a little bit of tolerance and it doesn't just knock you out.

Glad to see that this subject is risen once again. In the previous
thread Caribbean started I also contributed as much as I could.

My former user name on the old board was Ifishdizzy, but I'm still the
    same old, bilateral me.. :)

FWIW, I've been a daily cannabis user for over 7 years, and YES, it
most definitely helps with the daily miseries of acute Meniere's, but I've
found that it too has it's limits.

Have been a Medical Cannabis patient since 2007, and have worked with
hundreds of sick and terminal individuals to improve the quality of their life.
I've personally grown hundreds of plants (legally), developed new strains for
specific illnesses, and have taught thousands more how to raise their own
medicine. I've worked to educate medical professionals on the benefits of
individual strains, and what they might suggest vs. what their patients
    should avoid.

All that said, but glad to offer any help to fellow Menarians if I can. Done the
debate/argue thing till I'm blue in the face, but always happy to answer honest
    questions.

There is more variability between the strains than between different types of benzos or pain killers or any other class of drug I can think of off the top of my head. Depending on the amount of THC, CBD and CBL, you are going to have enormous differences. Some low THC strains do wonders for seizures and anxiety, while super high THC strains can cause opposite effects and even psychotic episodes. It's worth spending a few hours researching the various effects before trying any of the strains.

And a great fly fisherman I might add as well.
    What's up my friend.

Does cannibas do anything for a constant pain in my ass called My Wife or is that what a bottle of Jack Daniels and a girlfriend are for?

Be good Mike!!!! Good to see you back on my friend!!!

So which strains have you guys found to be the most effective against meniere's disease? The stuff I've been using is starting to cause more nausea and dizziness than I'm comfortable with when I use it at night.

This post was very long, so forgive me if someone else posted this. I get it that it works for some people, but like alcohol, it suppresses the cerebellum. The cerebellum is the part of he brain that takes all of the information from the ears, eyes, joints, appendages and feet. It is supposed to tell ears to calm down when it receives a message that the room is spinning. It does it by taking all the other information from other areas of the body. It essentially says the legs, the feet, and the rest of he body are telling me the room is NOT spinning stop.

When you suppress the cerebellum it limit its ability to do that.

My probation officer told me Cannibas was against the law and he would throw me back in jail if I did it so I don't.

That's not the way I remember it, but okay.

There are so many variables when using weed to treat different symptoms.
I think the best way would be to get a script and get what is taylor made for each persons particular symptoms.

I wish Carribean were here. I'm sure he'd have a great impact on this topic.
His thread can be found in the archives.

Jesus. The premise of Simpson's argument is awful. Not to mention incredibly weak.

    Agreed.

Add to this equation that there are over 80 cannabinoids found in cannabis, if I remember correctly. THC, THCV, CBG, CBD, & CBL are but only a handful. While I'm in favour of legalising cannabis, for both medical & recreational purposes, until we really start isolating individual cannabinoids & painstakingly research cancelling interactions, entourage effects & combine in ratio, consumption, while potentially beneficial for some, will inevitably hinge on unknown variables.

Are stain ID's consistent from state to state in the US? Or perhaps more importantly, are strains available in one state available in all other states where legalized? For instance I know from both traveling extensively & a missspent youth that many stains have a different ID subject to country or city. Specific stains found in the UK, or Hawaii are often named alternatively in NY, for example.

Moreover, is the cultivation, or production of cannabis monitored so to guarantee consistent cannabinoid count & percentage? Are yields examined so to meet any given standard specific to strain type? I ask because you're increased dizziness & nausea may or may not be due to the actual strain, per se, but rather varying degrees of potency & ratio due to the influence differing cultivation & curing techniques have on any one specific strain.

I'm pretty sure Dolfan has been using cannabis on & off for a number of years in attempt to medicate his meniere's symptoms. Considering he's not logged in all that often a PM may be in order. He could be a valuable contributor to this thread.

Joe, do you or your probation office have Dolfan's personal details? Give the man a heads up, yeah?

Hey Dogs! How's it hanging brother?

As for your wife, well, it might depending on if she likes brownies or not... ;)

You might have some success getting her a girlfriend and a bottle of Jack; don't know.

If she likes the girlfriend at least she'll be out of your hair for awhile.... ;D

I'm still a night person, so at the moment I'm just waking up. Soon as I can
make sense to myself I'll tackle a couple of the other questions.

And it's of absolutely no relevance whatsoever.

Rick Simpson simply raised the awareness of the world to the benefit of
concentrated CBD's. His method has been around for centuries..he's just
the first to publish it on the web.

Yes, there are over 85 separate cannabiniods in Cannabis. More research IS being down, and
at a record pace. Check out Israel's cannabis program..you'd be amazed at the progress they've
made. Once they do sort out all those cannabiniods you're going to see some miracle medicines
come on the market, and they'll be safe to use.

Here's a few links to some cannabiniod data, so you'll have a better understanding
    of what you're talking about.

Strains are consistent when they are grown from the same seed batch. Considering
the legal issues, you are correct in presuming there is not much consistency from
one state to another...or for that matter, one dispensary vs. another.

Strains today are 99% crosses, back-crosses and more. You'd have a hellofa time
chasing down the genetics of them, UNLESS you are dealing with a grower who
developed the strain initially. The pure strains (often called "Land Race" strains)
are pretty hard to find anymore. Durbin (South Africa) was the home of a few of
them; same for the Middle East and several of the South American countries.

Every new crop you start out with smaller doses, and soon you'll know just how much
    you want, or need.

Check out some of the major dispensaries in Colorado, as they are producing
Cannabis oil to exact specifications, and it's done in one of the most advanced
    medical labs in the state.

Cannabis ain't a "take two aspirin and call me in the morning" medicine. You should
educate yourself about marijuana and it's history, and if you choose to try it for
managing your Meniere's, then take it slow til you know what the heck you're doing.

This was actually Republican David Simpson in the Texas legislature who said this. You have to remember he is making the argument to fellow Christian conservatives in the Texas legislature and to his own constituents at home.

The fact that his bill went all the way to the scheduling committee is a big feat considering Texas is a very conservative state. I think the road to legalization is just a matter of time when you have people in both parties arguing for it.
